CORRECTED
Warren, MI banded two females on 6/5/23.
Unbanded male was named Fred. The female banded bl/blu 64/K (unnamed at banding) was named Wilma, and a vote was conducted to name the chicks. As expected, the most popular names were Pebbles and BamBam. But since both chicks were females, they named them:
Pebbles-f b/blu 21/AE
Betty-f b/blu 22/AE

MSU Spartan Stadium chicks were banded 5/24/23.
Swooper-f b/blu S/66 - third to jump out of the box to the roof on 6/4.
Egbert-f b/blu S/65
Muhammed-m b/blu 70/R - second to jump out of the box to the roof on 6/3.
Pickles-m b/blu 71/R - first to jump out of the box to the roof on 6/3.

Warren...from the banding:

Pebbles~b/bl 21/AE

Betty~b/bl 22/AE

This is Betty...the biologist said the tail feathers are more developed, so Betty probably hatched first.

I was wanting to peek in at Lillie and Regal’s kids, it it seemed like no one was home. Then I could see a fuzzy white head bobbing around at the bottom of the picture….they havent been banded yet have they?

They don't do banding at Wayne State unless they become grounded and rescued. The chicks would run out the little port holes in the balcony if frightened.

From MSU Fisheries and Wildlife Club facebook page on 7/5/23:

Spartan Stadium UPDATE: Unfortunately a few days ago Pickles (R-71) was involved in an accident and will not be released back into the wild. Pickles would not have survived without the amazing team at Wildside rehabilitation center. We are so grateful they have taken Pickles in and are getting him trained to be an ambassador. *photo taken by Elizabeth Armstrong*

Update - Wayne State University Detroit:
From @wsufalcons Instagram page:
Ben, our early fledger, was successfully reintroduced to the nest this morning. Naming rights went to 7-year-old Graham Papuga -- this year's #WSUFalcons guardian angel! Graham noticed the downed falcon while on campus with his mom, @WayneStateEnvSciGeo Professor Shirley Papuga recently. She immediately alerted our WSU biologists. As for the name, "Graham just liked the name Ben," explained Shirley. We do too, Graham!

Macomb- I actually saw the unbanded tiercel live! He walked back and forth several times in the nest area….I sure hope he and Brookie’s Cookie have better luck next year :loveheart:

Wayne State- using the DVR again (is that cheating) a male juvie flew into the nest area, with a small piece of prey. Off cam, I hear another juvie food begging. The larger juvie comes into view and can be heard trying to persuade her brother to share. She really got pushy, and brother left one small bit for her and galloped toward one of the holes to escape. She actually chased him through the hole and out of sight!

Kalamazoo- a peregrine has been hanging around the nest box several minutes… I can’t tell if it’s Kiwi or Rebecca, taking a guess that it’s Kiwi. He/ she is rather animated, like they are watching something….Would the kids be dispersed by now?

Warren- We had a banded peregrine (black/ blue with a K) perched at the nest box, is that Wilma? And, I was delighted to find that a juvie had visited the nest 3 hours earlier :loveheart:

Warren, looking at the “Hall of Fame” catches. Yesterday two falcons came to the nestbox. One, the male was unbanded, and the other had what looked to me to be a green/ black band with maybe a B on top…
