this is th e young red banded female. she appears to be one year ol d by racing stripes in on her head and her actions.

I will do a post tomorrow , just trying to get a hold of emotions, so I can be objective.

This will show how observant I am NOT...I posted this pic, and it did not even dawn on me that that was a new egg...

Gosh..do you think she had a mate elsewhere that she lost? It will be interesting to see if anybody shows interest in that egg..Other than laying it...she hasn't.

Fascinating...Dad knew which eggs belonged to him...Gathered them up...and left hers out.

Image

She came in...he left...she kinda claimed her egg.

Image

She then went and inspected the 3 eggs...basically left them alone..(for a nano second, it looked like she might get on them...nope)..then to perch..then gone...

dad is back on the 3 eggs.

She may be a 3 year old year old, from my experts, even with racing stripes, and from our hack site 2019 . Partial read but cam is not powerful enough.

Will let you know what transpires.

See what happens. I am awaiting feedback from other experts.

Boy, the racing stripes threw me, I should know the coloring was adult coloring :girlcrazy:

It has been a hard week.
So far we have not recovered our resident female , but after showing tapes to experts, we agree , she probably suffered from Avian flu. sh e would not have lasted after I last saw her. It was not good. And for that reason, I will no t post tapes. I would like to remember her, for the sassy girl she was. She did everything her way

Thanks for the coverage, all...out of the loop here for the past several days...

New Chapter is right...let's pray she does not lay a full clutch...as we know how that can turn out...too many eggs to incubate...and nothing to show for the effort.

Over the last few days I have been in constant communication with some of our experts in the peregrine field as well as Genesee Power Plant. It was decided that in the best interests of this new female (a chance would be given to her to have a full clutch). Because there was already 3 eggs and she had laid two more, the decision was made by the experts that the first 3 eggs would be removed from the nest box. (They are probably no longer viable). Over the weekend Emyruald and I tried to keep track of the two new eggs. Today, the experts met with the plant officials and the 3 eggs were removed from the nest box and taken by the experts and analyzed. The two remaining eggs are red band's eggs. We hope that that red band and her mate have a successful nesting.

Skygirlblue will post some pictures.

Bev.
