Such sweet faces. Of course I think falcons have the prettiest faces of all birds, from birth to adulthood. :girlyes:

Image
Scrolling back, I saw 3 feedings, one prey bigger than the others, maybe mom got it.

I love how, even in crowded nest boxes, the chicks seem to give the one flapping plenty of room to do so.

These are pictures from yesterday.

I thank those watching and posting as I put on record but with all these sites to also monitor from ground, not much time left in day. At 72 days young, I am tired

Someone lives close to Miscercordia is monitoring there as much as possible as I just cannot be everywhere. U of a is our main site to do fledge watch due to area

although Bell is worst sight we have , glass jungle , it is impossible to do a watch down there. It is not safe , as well.

Genesee does very well and we just go out if a problem, which is rarely but we like to take drive in country and watch these guys fly. We have ot watch form distance but can always spot them . wide open skies.

I love it when they all line up

Big sis in the back. It's always frisky when they are being fed.

I can't believe that Mom fell through the rungs like that.

Today

Again things pretty competitive at feedings. But, I'm sure that I saw Mom grab prey from Dad today when he brought it to the nest. He and the kids just stood frozen watching her take it away.

The adult female is quite the gal. She fell through again today, with prey ad she tried to decide whether to have them grab it, or go in. She is just too quick in her movements. Maybe because she was captive bred and did not see the interaction between 2 adults. Not sure how that works. I have been out to peregrine breeders, but a long time ago. Hopefully all goes well here. The adult females quick actions worries me for fledging, usually things go well here. But new female, changes things

Random pictures. Saw at least 3 feeds today. The female is hyper for sure. I don't know whether that is good or bad, but the chicks are good so far. When I last checked in, she was on the roof of the nest for the night making sure her babies are safe during the night. I check in at night and do not take pictures but she is there most of the time on the lookout.

I have every hope that they will fledge successfully.

Some pics from today. I'm surprised they haven't ventured out of the box by now. Maybe their sassy mom told them they had better not try it, yet. I wish that the jump from the box to that platform that circles the structure looked easier. I hope they don't leave until they are totally ready to fly.

You are right...cannot believe they haven't ventured out to the sides/perch yet...I guess they are waiting for Mom's permission..hee hee...

I can't get these pictures in the right order even though I cut and paste them. At any rate I'm sure you can see where one of the male left the nest, sat outside for a minute or two and made it back in. I watched him look like he was going out a few times, and then I thought one of the others was going out with him, possibly knocking him off. :nervous:
They are ready to explore, that's for sure. They must be getting hungry and maybe parents are encouraging them to fly.

Before that, Mom brought in prey, but couldn't get in, fed a few bites, but what I first thought was big prey looked like mostly feathers.
Then dad brought the small prey and it was grabbed

Pictures you posted SGB.

Afterwards, there was a big tussle over it. I thought they were all going to fall out. Poor dears, they are all hungry.

Big feed with Mom taking place in the box right now. Kids are behaving...I'm sure it wasn't this orderly at the start.

The reason for the semi calm? Because this was the second food drop. Dad came in earlier with prey..and while he went into the box and wanted to feed, it turned into utter chaos!! OH MY!!

I'm glad that you saw that SGB, I scrolled bad and looked at it. All I had seen was Mom come to the nest with food, but not go in, and also dad with another tiny bird and did not enter the nest. It makes it hard for the smallest one to get any and I'm concerned they will hurt each other fighting over the food. Dad needs to step up his game and bring in some food to fill them up. I get it that he doesn't want to go in, I think Mom is even intimidated sometimes.

If dad think he has it rough now wait until they chase him around the sky for food. :teehee:

I pray both parents stay healthy.
