From Berry on FB over 2 hrs ago:

We now have 2 confirmed pips (1 on each egg). As stated previously, after the exterior pip becomes visible, hatching typically follows within 24 hours. Exciting times at the Berry nest!

:10val: Pa arrived @ about 7:46 to a branch. She did not call for him this morning. She did not move, but made a few soft chirps to him. He moved to a branch to the right of nest out of view as she watched him. Then you could hear him move again, but don't know if he flew or is on another branch. Maybe he will come back with a stick or food to coax her off the nest. She is hanging very tight this am, only allowing a couple quick peeks of white fluff and the egg.

:15heartbeat: At 9:24 begins 1st full look @ B12 who is possibly still too weak to raise head yet. Can see egg also. Ma pushes more shell away from 1st hatch.

:7val: Congratulations Ma & Pa Berry and to all here! Such wonderful news. I peeked in on them occasionally over the weekend. Very loud and frequent vocals from that chick all day yesterday...Lol. A strong little tyke and there's a nice big hole in the other egg on Ferenz's video. Such joy for these parents. They are so experienced and work so well together. I am overjoyed for Ma, who always proves herself despite her awkward leg. Wonderful!! :15heartbeat:

:7val: Poor Pa, he landed @ 9:34, then to nest and begins to tidy it, especially close to her. She responded with soft chirps. He picked @ the top of nest bole and I thought he was going to tunnel his way in! :teehee: Then he tried to get her to move by tidying her as he picked her feathers along her back. But noooooooooooooo, she would not budge and he hopped to branch and then out of view @ 9:39!!

:15heartbeat: Beginning to wonder if B12 is wanting to eat. Ma has repositioned @ least 3 times in last 20' or so. It is lifting it's head now!

Another possibility is she detecting something from egg? Up again. I could not see a change in the egg.

he will no t need to eat, yet. sh eis so smart, probably wants to wait till other has entered the world or close to it. that way keeping size in check for a bit. I never watch much after they hatch as I do not like the bonking

:16val: Yes, I know it does not "need to eat" and that is why I chose my words carefully and said it "wants to eat". So far, Pa has not returned to the nest. Rain continues with heavy pouring @ times. From chat, it is to rain @ long intervals over the next week. There is some fogging and droplet collection on the lens of cam 1 that prevents view of chick when she moves off of it @ times. I am thankful Pa brought that fish yesterday that remains on the nest. And hope that he (she if necessary) is successful in hunting during this rainy spell. Also, hoping bonking won't be bad. Some years here it seems to be less than other nests I follow. Hope she is willing to take a break when he returns as she has not been out of the bole, only standing and changing positions to roll the egg and tuck the chick when she deems necessary. She's going to be stiff possibly when she does, but we've seen her work through that before and hope she is able to now.

Edit to add: Thunderstorm in progress @ 3:00.

:15val: Both cams are down. I was here when it happened before 5:00 their time. I saw a flash from the left of screen that caused Ma to turn around and look also. Then thunder. I thought there was a lightening strike very near on the left, but of course I don't know for sure. I noticed some of the chatters said they lost the cam, but I and others had not it seemed. But, it could have reverted to previous video from earlier today that believe me, you might not notice @ first because the scene has looked pretty much the same all day with the rains. I left and came back and noticed the time was from earlier in the day. I hope it was not a lightening strike to an area of the cam system that would make them unviewable for the remainder of the season because they could not repair d/t nesting.
