video: Hornby Island Eagle Calls

This looks like Monsieur Hornby in the nest. He's very alert and calls out! Must not be anything too scary, or he would be on his feet.

NB: I had a heck of a time putting together this video. After converting from .flv to .wmv, the video was pixelated and the audio disappeared. I used several programs to extract the audio and then add it back, trying to get the A/V synchronized.

Great news for the Hornbys! I was online last night but not watching Hornby so I missed it! The egg was actually laid around 8:00 PM last night ... the 20th. :)

Video: First Egg for the Hornby Island Eagles

I saw the egg first thing this morning. This video clip was recorded around 11:15 AM today. It may have been laid the night before. Mom is on the nest and seems to be calling for Dad. Later (not in the video) she calls out more loudly and we hear Dad respond.

She's toasty warm underneath those feathers that are surface wet. But I'm pretty sure she prefers dry weather to wet weather. :-)
