7 am
The eagle that was on the eggs got up and stretched, then flew off towards the right. An eagle arrived from the left less than a minute later. Can those of you who know them check the stills - I think it was a switch. The earlier eagle's neck seemed fuller and fluffier and the head looked different in some way. Also, she(?) was sitting calmly until she called and left. The eagle on the nest now seems to have a thinner neck, and is picking at the nesting material. Oh - wonder if it's shadows or if there are dark spots on the head - maybe this is she?

Anyway, please check before and after 7 am mountain time and see what you think.

Thanks, kittenface - I was hoping.

I have some pics on the Hancock forum - I am at work and don't have time to post them elsewhere. But I doubt if they're any different than what's in the daily pics (and they are smaller).

I'll keep watching - maybe I'll see something.

I know I'd feel 100% better if I could get a shot of both in the nest at once
If be some chance the other isn't around you know as well as I do this won't end good,
and after last year I'm afraid I'd have to stop watching theses 2 and I sure don't want that to happen and I didn't see a switch at all yesterday from the time the camera was back in the morning all the way til dark mind you I was away off and on but the dailies didn't show anything

Just caught a switch with both parents on the nest!

I was pretty sure both were around because the eagle on the nest wasn't doing a lot of calling - but it sure is nice to have a visual confirmation.

Another question about leg bands - do they each have one? And which leg is it on? I'm positive I've seen a band on the left leg of one of them - but couldn't be sure if there was also a band on the right leg. And I have a pic that I think shows one with a band on the right leg - but again, I can't see the left leg, and the pic isn't clear enough for me to be sure of what I'm seeing. I know Peter Sharpe on the Channel Islands makes a guess about gender during banding (based on size, depth of beak and such), and puts the band on the right leg for those he thinks are male, and the left leg for those assumed to be female. Not sure if that's a standard sort of thing, though.

Thanks. I was so glad I was watching at the right moment - it was a very fast switch. And I also fell in love with this nest a few years ago - and am so hoping for the best this year. :beathrt:

Nice SS Kitten! :) I didn't to look in on them much today.

JudyB - we had a big discussion about their bands a few weeks ago - most of the info. Kitten found is on Page 4 of this thread.
