According to posts on Maine (which is finally back up and running!) they had a bit of a problem today, I think, maybe yesterday. One of the other eagles got too close I guess and there was a fight. They even took the chick out of the nest for awhile till things settled down. I think Lori said they had to take another adult out of the enclosure. All seemed ok while I watched today.

There are 3 eagles in the enclosure again--just hope the 3rd one isn't the one that the parents had to battle last week...

Name The Eaglet Contest:

Savannah, a bald eagle in captivity at Carolina Raptor Center due to injuries, has a baby eaglet and we need you to help name it! The eaglet was born on Friday, February 12, which is also Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. Savannah and her mate Derek will care for the eaglet for six weeks. Then Carolina Raptor Center Staff will carefully remove the eaglet from the nest and perform a DNA test to see if it’s male or female. The eaglet will then be to taken to an undisclosed location to learn to live on its own. It will later be released into the wild.

But we need your help now to name Savannah’s eaglet. Remember, we won’t know if it’s male or female for a few more weeks, so try to keep the name gender neutral.

Link to enter contest -->

* The deadline to enter the contest is Friday, Feb. 26 at 12 p.m. EST.

* Carolina Raptor Center Staff will narrow the list of entries to the Top 5. On Monday March 1 log on to vote for your favorite name. The winning name will be announced Monday, March 8 on WCNC.com and NewsChannel 36. *The person submitting the winning name will receive an official naming certificate from Carolina Raptor Center. In the event more than one person submits the winning name, all will receive an official naming certificate.

Well my logical choice would be Abraham, but that don't work for a girl - and it's probably a girl. :think
