Video: Phoenix Looks Around While Mom’s Away

Hatched April 29, Phoenix is six days old.

In 2006, the eagles removed (and ate?) the unhatched eggs on May 4.

Very cute video, beans, and thank you. Wonder why the second hatch isn't happening, especially when there was clearly a pip . . . ? Haven't had time to watch so I wonder if the parents are still incubating it.

Video: Intruders Fly over the Hornby Island Eagle Nest

Mom is quietly enjoying Mother's Day at the nest when Dad alerts her to intruders in the area! They both chase after the intruders, and then Mom returns, only to take off once more. She returns to the nest again, still on high alert, perched on the housing of the close-up camera. Dad finally returns (you can see his shadow as he flies over the nest).

*whew* It's always something!

All are well! :) No hatch for the second egg. It disappeared for a day or so, then reappeared.
