Hi everyone.

I didn't know about the Delta nest. That must have been "difficult" to watch.

A viewer on YouTube left me a comment saying he would have liked to see the female return to the nest to discover the eaglet misplaced. He was right.....duh, should of done that......
So I added it here, for those who may be interested.

Another gasp moment for sure...thanks for reposting that video, Beans...

But wasn't there a situation in CA where the eaglet somehow got hung up in dad as Dad was leaving and Dad flew off with the little one...it was a tragic ending...or did I just dream all of that...I hope I dreamed all of that!!!

Skygirl, that was the Hornby nest in May 11/09. I believe it was Echo that got stuck under mom. I'm trying to find the section in hancocks old forum
Found it. You have to log in to read the old forum so I'll copy & paste
"Somehow, during the two or so hours that Mom brooded the eaglets, Echo became entangled in the feathers on the underside of Mom's body. There are several theories as to how this happened - it's possible that one of the eaglets pooped while under Mom, or that she got into some tree sap or other sticky substance. Or possibly Echo's wing got wedged in among some of Mom's feathers in some way. However it happened, when Mom stood up at 7:55 am, Echo caught in Mom's feathers. Mom hopped around the nest, perhaps trying to shake Echo loose, and even took a brief flight, but Echo remained firmly attached. It looked as if some of the strands from Mom's feathers were wrapped around Echo's neck, though we have no way of knowing if they contributed to his death. Beans made a video of this as part of the record of the nest - please be aware that it is a very hard video to watch (Tragedy in the Hornby Nest).http://www.hancockwildlife.org/mediagal ... 1145419821

Mom then fed Hope, and resumed brooding both eaglets. At about 10:00, she stood up again. Echo was still attached. It was not clear at that point if Echo was still alive. At 10:10, Mom flew away from the nest a second time, and Echo fell to the ground below.

thanks Pat for jogging my memory...I don't know why I thought it was a CA nest...but now that you mention the details/names I remember it clearly...That really was a hard video to watch...so, I'm not gonna watch it again...

....but, thankfully, Dad's little toss here did no harm...and knowing that, I just have to chuckle when I watch that part of Mick's video...I wonder why he did that?

MA, the eaglet did it by grabbing near the beak and catching hold of feathers :egg14: The male looked as shocked as I was!

They are getting a lot of publicity. I'm just worried that one morning I won't get on/. I'll be afraid to turn if off if I have to go out. 140595 viewers. this morning there were a good 13000 more people

The educational aspects are so sensational - almost painless learning. I am so happy to see that so many school classrooms tune in.
