All the eaglets on the Channel Islands get transmitters Susan. Even though they don't have to hatch the eggs anymore they still need to keep track of them all. All part of the project to repopulate the islands.

Pat/Cumbrian posted an amazing video of an island fox visiting K18 last night at Two Harbors!

The Pelican Harbor pair's only Eaglet this year is a female A- 73!

I hope they get a Cam on this nest so we can watch this famous pair next year. I miss seeing them so. They are a riot to watch.

Their 1st offspring was a female Cruz
2nd was a Male our beloved Limuw RIP Sweet Peep's.
3rd & 4th two males Spirit & (Skye deceased)
5th & 6th two males # 68 & #69
7th a female :thumbegg:

It amazed me that got up to the nest after saying it was in an area they could not get access too to put a Cam there, yet A-73 was Banded! Did Dr. Sharpe use a helicopter again??

I think the problem of putting a cam on the nest was more the problem than actually accessing it for banding. They'll climb anywhere to band ... but the technical aspects of a camera are different. I really miss seeing them too though. They are an amazing pair.

A68 is Braveheart and A69 is Malik.

PattiO Thanks for the names of Braveheart & Malik I was racking my brain trying to remember them, and having Senior Moment's at the same time! :thumbegg:

Isn't A74 a beauty Cricket! It's nice they had a female this year. Strangely, she reminds me of Ma Norfolk.

Bald eagle hatches on Channel Isle; 1st since '49

For the first time in more than 60 years, a bald eagle chick has hatched naturally on West Anacapa Island in Channel Islands National Park.
Park spokeswoman Yvonne Menard said Friday that the chick hatched in a remote canyon on the island, the first since 1949. It is also believed to be the first such hatching in Ventura County since 1949.
Menard says the nest was found in March, and researchers returning this week found the eagle, thought to be about eight weeks old.
Bald eagles are now breeding on four of the eight Channel Islands that they once occupied before disappearing in the 1960s due to human effects on their environment.
There are now between 60 and 70 bald eagles on the islands, including a dozen born this year.

That would be the best Cricket!!

Two Harbors ...
I was watching her the other night ... Monday I think ... she's quite the boldy! Dad brought a fish and she chased him off...then Mom came in and started eating it but she didn't even seem hungry. Mom keep looking at her waiting to see if she wanted any ... but nope ... she just watched and showed off. :)

The first 6 pics are from a day or two earlier. I think there's 13 total.

Sauces chick fledged but now the cam is off.

Two Harbors ... K18 ... aka Solitaire ... may be the only Two Harbors chick this year, but oh boy is she noisy! She came screaming in after an adult to get fed!

All 3 at West End have fledged ... although K14 kind of did it by accident. She was hovering and the wind took her! But she made it back today! K13 is in and out like a pro ... K12 went second and I think made it back this morning.

Getting a meal from Mom. :)
