If I remember correctly they start laying their eggs in February, and in April they begin hatching.

I'm waiting for the P.H. pair to make up their minds which nest they will use this year. I don't believe they've returned to their New home at Chinese Harbor since the Cam was installed there. They have been spotted at the old P.H. Nest doing nestoration's. They have Bonded, so we hope there will be at least one egg hopefully. My concern is where they will have it!

They had strong winds at Caltrans yesterday and now it's raining .... and I REALLY don't like the look of the nest! It looks almost like it's falling apart right from under them! I'm afraid the egg/s will fall out if they don't get it fixed soon.

Look at the right side ... and the adults tail looks like it's sticking out in the breeze!

Well ... it looks somewhat better today ... AND, she laid the second egg late yesterday. I hope the nest holds up! Borrowed this pic from CAL04.

82 Laid first egg last night at roughly 0830PM PT. Snagged from the CHIL forum and Harpo516, is the first egg roll captured about 40 minutes later. She laid her first egg last season too on this date

Thanks George - Thursday night is the ONLY night I watch TV so I missed it.

Strange goings on there right now though. Both adults on the nest but neither one has sat on the egg for almost 2 hours. They are having horrible weather ... lots of rain forecast for the next 2 days. I'll be worried about Redding too.

Dr. Peter Sharpe and his IWS Team will be working on the Pelican Harbor's pair aka K-10 & K-26 New Cam at Chinese Harbor getting it Online this week.

There was some speculation that they are aware of a surprise as per a reporter in Nest Ops., but I looked very carefully and didn't see anything of the sort. What was said was that it has always been around this time of the year K-26 would lay her 1st egg of the Season. As far as we know it is NOT in the nest as of yet, but it could happen at any time if they choose to use this New nest.

K-10 paid another visit to the old nest yesterday for a short time. No work was done. I am sure he thinks it's time to start using the New nest. At least I hope so! He continues to size up the massive hole in the back wall. I know he must be upset with all of the hard work they both put into it over the years, only to have to abandon it this year. The safety of their family comes first!

Second egg in Two Harbors.
02.21.11.
The egg was laying outside the nestbowl.
After 3 hours K82 succeeds in her efforts to roll
the egg into the bowl.

Dave Luff with the Ventura County Office of Education came out and moved their equipment out of the destroyed tent to a new location today.

We went out later and moved our equipment and got the old PH nest back online. Still working on getting the new nest online, but there doesn't seem to be much, if any, activity there. Maybe they have a third nest somewhere.

Compliments of the IWS in Nest Ops at the Chile Forum
