How come?

There are two infrared lights, and the key one is mounted too far away to work at night. They couldn't change it when the eagles moved nests.

Can someone please catch me up. why did they start a new nest. did theirs get destroyed. I have followed this pair for a few years now. I have coasters of them and I buy their calendars. and I sponsor Buddy.

I am a bit behind in watching this year.

bev, my understand is that there was nothing "wrong" with the old nest. This pair just decided to build a new one. I believe there is also a third nest somewhere nearby that this couple built and used several years ago. obxbarb or jim will know the details on that.

Hi Bev! I hope you are staying warm...

There is no way to know why the eagles built another nest. Last year was successful, so that wasn't the problem. Someone in the chat suggested the new nest has a little more cover. The old one was in the front of the bunch of trees, so perhaps that is why. As you know, most eagles have a back up, so they are probably just covering all their bases :-)

Yes, the third nest was where buddy was born the year of the intruder.

We have so much snow that we do not know where to put it. Maybe the other eagle nest :sfthumbs:

Here is a Google Earth image of all three nests to help give a better idea of their
location. Renaissance Court is where those photog types hang out. The point
is where NE was rescued from last year as you can see the canal that runs through
part of NBG.

These pictures was taken Sunday morning after they left the nest.
Perched in a area next to the new nest known to some as "Eagle Alley". The first
picture he was definitely watching a photographer move around.

These are from yesterday. I don't think they were around all that much, but I did see that they mated at some point. Dad's always finding a way to keep busy! Mom is in the last shot.
