I hope some of you have been watching! NV and NX are back in their new, bigger home. And boy are they enjoying it!!! They really love their 'pool'. And they are both flying back and forth. Hoping NZ gets to re-join them soon!

Patti, I can't wait too see these three fly free!! Dad eagle was photographed at NBG today, yesterday and last thursday. The picture below is not him. I was looking for him tonight but the rains came. Perhaps you remember the eagle nest pictures I posted here from Jamestown Island. I was there yesterday and I was suprised to find a juvie in the nest, however it was a very short stay as Dad flew between me
and the nest and the juvie followed him for perhaps what was a hunting lesson.

Ditto for me! It's nice to see your beautiful pictures again.

And thanks, PattiO, for the news that two of the Norfolk kids are in their new "home" and loving it. I checked out the news and pictures at the Wildlife Center, and I'll have to check in on the cam tomorrow.

It has been to long coming. I want to put this out there and most probably
already know. The WCV is planning on releasing NV NX and NZ, the three eaglets
from Norfolk Botanical Garden sometime during the last week of July. :sunno: No date is set
yet. When I get the date I will post it here. I believe they will be released at Westover
Plantation, which is located on the James River, about 1.5 hours from here.
Also located there is the largest brood of eagles in the state of Virginia.
They will have plenty of company. The adult male and father of these three eaglets is
doing very well and is seen on a regular basis at the Garden. I have been spending some
time on Jamestown Island with the eagles out there. This is one of them.
He picked up a half eaten fish off the shoreline. Looking forward to chatting soon. Jim

Ed Clark is the President of the Wildlife Center of Virginia is in the running
for an honor and a monetary award for the charity of his choice.
He spends his life taking in wildlife that has been injured or sick and rehabilitates
them for release back into the wild.
The VWC is operated through sponsorship and funding.

Go to Eagle Rare and vote for Ed.

Bald eagles: Wildlife Center of Virginia to release 5 Wednesday at Berkeley Plantation
By Kathy Van Mullekom | [email protected]

4:12 p.m. EDT, July 25, 2011
The Wildlife Center of Virginia will release five bald eagles at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Berkeley Plantation, on the James River in Charles City County.

This is the first time in the center’s nearly 30-year history of treating wildlife that five eagles will be released at the same event.
Great article about the additional 2 Eaglets to join the Norfolk 3
