Oh what a great family potrait, do you know wskrsnwings if the nest is there in that clump of trees we see on the water view? Also I wonder if its not if that 3rd Eagle I saw the other day is anywhere's around and if that might be having an effect on the 2 of them sitting on the eggs
Questions question that all I ever have :teehee:

kittenface, I don't know where their nest is in relationship to the dam tailwaters... hope not too close!

Been searching and reading this am to find more history on Hope and Valor and the nest :
FB photos of 2010 nest and their 3 eaglets-first two photos:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Stewards-of-the-Upper-Mississippi-River-Refuge/162067670495014#!/media/set/?set=a.185428718158909.34394.162067670495014&type=1
Lots of reading in older posts on their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Stewards-of-the-Upper-Mississippi-River-Refuge/162067670495014#!/pages/Stewards-of-the-Upper-Mississippi-River-Refuge/162067670495014

Video of nest (at the very end! 2:45 mark) on 1/31/12, day before first egg laid.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_ZVbL3wJfk&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

If I am thinking correctly (head is spinning): When high winds blew down the historic nest in 2010, another was built nearby, eggs abondoned, nest blew down. Hope and Valor went back to historic nest site and this is where current nest is reinforced with 2x4's.

Happy news! I received a very nice email from Pam Steinhaus, visitor mgr of SUMR. She said "This nest is actually on the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, but we use Lock and Dam 13 as a location point." I found a link to learn about the massive refuge: http://www.fws.gov/midwest/uppermississippiriver/ Pam also gave a little insight to the history of this pair. "I'm not sure how old Valor is, Hope's previous mate was electrocuted a few years ago. He is older than 5" The newspaper article I have says a male eagle was killed flying into a power line in 2006. So these two have been together a while. The more I watch them, i can chuckle over these two, Hope keeping everything in order and Valor taking things as they come. :teehee:

It was a wonderful sunny day for Hope & Valor and their eggs. Valor sat on the eggs at least two long periods that I saw. There was another mating which I witnessed as I turned on pc this am... sleepy fingers not quick enough to get photo. :(

Hope returns "I'm back, move over"

Hope enjoying the day with her eaglets to be :girlyes:

Working next two days, so keep an eye on them for me. Thanks!!

Re: Upper Mississippi

SUMR has opted to shut off Ustream cam for now. They have set up the new feed back at http://sumriver.org/ All five of the available wildlife cams are grouped together for easy switching from one to another. Also resolution is much better and they are still fine tuning the cams.

Here's a view of the nest I have never seen.

Hope and Valor taking turns this am sitting on the nest.

Can't get sound off new feed yet, so I still have the old feed with sound up at http://208.86.162.113:88/CgiStart?page=Single&Language=0

Update 1pm - have sound now on new link with the Blue Iris Remote view.

Won't it be great, kittenface!! We can zoom in and out to our heart's content at the eagle nest and falcon box. Watching all four cams, we can keep an eye on eagle hatch and peregrine falcon egg laying watch, then zoom in wherever the action is. :thumbup

:gaah: I can't get Hope & Valor's nest up is it just me ?
OK so again I should have read it says this :teehee:

(If you are using Internet Exployer you will get an error message "HTTP 403 Forbidden". In the address bar, after ....5850/ type in jpegpush.htm and you will get the page.) Other browsers seem to be working fine. If you experience any other problems please send us an email so we know. That way we will have everything just right when all the action begins. Thank you for your patience.
