We have lost the Two Harbors chick. While I was watching last night Dr. Sharpe started panning around in the dark ... neither K82 or K81 was on the nest with the chick. (After the fact, it seems K82 has not been seen since yesterday morning). As he was panning we spotted an Island Fox on it's way into the nest.

Little Braveheart fought it off .... but it returned again a second time ... and a third time, when it grabbed the chick and took it away. :tantrum2: :tissue:

I cannot cry any harder than I have this morning.

Well, a bit of good news .... K82 just returned a short while ago. She seems to be OK. Dad brought her a fish and she ate it on the nest... then off she went. At least she's alive!

well, at least that is good news, PattiO. I am so glad they both are ok. . but where the heck were they last night?

Reminds of the osprey nest last year where the GHO took one of the "not so small" babies out of the nest at dusk.. I still wonder where those parents were. .

I was watching the PH nest at sunset. K26 came home and K10 thought it proper to give her QUITE the earfull. :puzzled2: K26 was not put off however ... and they proceeded to do a nest dance for a few minutes. :shrug: K10 was not deterred and as it got totally dark they were both still there. :->
