Belle came into the nest at 5:25. Smitty flew off and Belle has been incubating and offered the eaglet some food, but it was not ready yet.

I have found Belle's behavior a bit baffling. She was there this morning and fed the chick... when Shep took over she was gone for hours. Shep is new at this and no one on WOW reported seeing him feed the chick. But it was obviously moving around under him as he kept changing positions. I think he just wanted to continue incubating. And, it was very warm there today.

Belle finally did come back around 4:30, and fed the chick. She is just not acting 'herself' IMO. We'll see how it goes. She is probably just used to how well Lib was at taking care of his little ones.

OH ...and the second egg had a very good pip ... should have #2 by tomorrow. :)

Great news about #2 and your probably right Patti about Belle still being used to Libs great daddy duties she will just have to teach Shep how it works around here :teehee:

I jsut think they need a year under their belt . Every pair is different and we are used to seeing belle with Lib ,

they need time to get in sinc. I have found that with watching falcons , when one partner changes, so does the whole dynamic and we have to get used to something new. I think it is the same thing here.

I always hate the first few weeks with all the bullying

They are so adorable thanks for the pictures Mick, Belle need to really sit him down and have a talk let him know THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT
or maybe just maybe he's smarter than we give him credit for maybe he's like my brothers act like you can't and mom comes in and does it herself so it gets done

:cheerlead: Shep

I tried to see if both were fed but I am sure they were.

We hurt when we lose our favorite ones but you know, they all steal my heart eventually. We see their progress and rejoice . We always remember the ones that paved the way for these to get here.

Great video PattiO
