George, I'm sitting in awe here, watching your beautiful photo's of the Hawks. They are all lovely but there are a few that stand out: the one of the male flying off and the reflection of his wings in the window behind the nest. Mom on the flagpole (how nice on that special day  ) and Dad on that statue of the "Regal Eagle"
And the poop-shot competition is priceless  8-)

I am very lucky to be between both the franklin instutute's hawks and the rachel carson falcons. This late in the season its hard to decide which one to go visit. I went to the FI this am only because the two falcons fledged yesterday morning and i was hoping to see the hawks go today. Its a tough choice for sure

The first 3 are of the last to fledge

I'm just catching up here...George, the pics are just great...I love the way the fledgling is looking down at you...and I wonder what he was thinking...

Since I know nothing about hawks, how long do they stay in the area before spreading out? Will the parents continue to feed them...for the rest of the summer?

yes they will be in the area for a couple of months as they hone their skills and get deliveries by Meals on Wings er the parents in the same ways that their falcon cousins are being educated post fledge by thier parents.

Since the Camera live stream ends on Friday, i am going to take the liberty to post a link for the Hawkwatch at the Franklin Institute blog which is written by a fellow hawkaholic with some insights and other information by an Ohio Based expert on Red Tails

George, your photos are gorgeous, and I've been enjoying watching the juvies grow up on the blog. They are so beautiful! Funny to see how much they are on the ground. As a rehabber, I get calls on grounded hawks. I have to tell them its normal behavior...

according to sunnydixies blog, the franklin pair have been observed doing "nestorations" so it wont be long now til we see some more hawk activity by the nest. I am hoping to get my lazy self down there in a couple weeks given i am only 12 miles away to the west

Ah , i wonder if this is one of the offspring from the hawk nest a few years back who attacked a nearby car owner when he went to get his car atop the parking garage by a society hill hotel. The view to me looks as if its south 8th street south of market since i can see the old Lit brothers buliding on the right and "The Gallery" appears to the right

Several years ago a driver was picking his car up from a parking garage across from a nest at a society hill hotel and the hawk couple wasnt happy and he ended up with some talon damage to his ear and scalp
