Here is a video of a "rescue" of a juvie hawk after an encounter with a peregrine falcon shot at 16th and market streets on jan 10. I hope it wasnt one of the FI hawks

Since i had to go to the dentist at 0900 and the FI nest is only 20 blocks away, i had to make a detour. The formel was hunkered down atop her eggs when i arrived at 0715ish and the tiercel was across the vine street expressway perched within wing flaps of the nest on the 3rd floor ledge

Image

Before flying across the street to check in the mrs, he had to do some grooming so that he wouldnt have to make any eggscuses for his wild night away from home
Image
Image

at roughly 0815ish he flew across vine street to the family manor to check in with the mrs. He didnt stay long however
Image

EGGSPECTED HATCH DATE :egghatch: is sometime around the week of April 17th

This morning at roughly 1040 AM philly time a rather large sized pip was seen on one of the hawk's 3 eggs. As of darkness the pip is still there and larger. We may have a hatch :egg4: tomorrow for easter sunday
:thumbegg: When we do i hope to post a shot of the new hawk bundle of joy to make his debut here for all of us  Then maybe more when s/he and fellow sibliings yet to hatch are tall enough to slice over the rim of the nest.

That may take a couple weeks as its roughly 45 days from hatch to fledge.

Since I have both an appointment wednesday and another on thursday at Penn 14 blocks away this next week i hope to get down to get shots of the formel and tiercel delivering groceries at least :spingirl:

As you can tell i am getting even more eggcited with the hawks and the harrisburg flacon's bundles of joy and i would not mind going into wilmington to see GG's first born too shortly. I may end up running around between all three like a proverbial "headless pigeon" I just hope i wont end up as a "menu item" though :lol2:

Since i had an appointment not too far from the Nest site at the Franklin Institute i thought i'd detour there first this am.

The formel is definitely sitting higher on her eyass as she could be seen finally brooding her triplets

a couple portraits shot at 0730am
