just for information only. Some can be concerned as the eyases grow and the nest looks cramped. Some of us really get nervous when they do thier flapping and begin to "ledge leap" on to the ledge that thei nest box is located. Well they have plenty of room out on the ledge and i thought i would share a shot showing the nest box and ledge

As i normally do after a shooting eggscursion, i initially process the ones that first catch my eye and then come back a day or so later to sift thru the chafe to find any kernels that i may have missed. Well here is one of the kernels i found amongst the chafe

yes its been off air all day but they may be readying to switch to the outside camera which should give a better view of the eyases when they start to "ledge leap". The cameras we are viewing now are located inside but the one they may switcjh to is the one shown in the upper right in the shot showing the full ledge i posted above

today at roughly 2PM 2/3 of the eyasses were observed "ledge leaping" off the nest onto the adjacent window ledge that supports the nest box and provides room for them to flap prior to fledge time

Both returned to the nest without any problems :thumbegg:

There will be boots on the ground and there are locals too closer than i am who can be there in minutes shoulde the need arise. The FI usually has on standby the personnell from the Schuylkill Valley Nature Center if the need arises for a certifed rehabilitation speicalist but the past three years i think there was only one rescue and RTH's dont mind being on the ground per se but sometimes need to be "escorted" out of the street

here is the link for the SVNC and their rehab efforts http://www.schuylkillcenter.org/departments/wildlife/

Went today to check on the hawks and they are readying to fledge. Most likely within the next 7 to 10 days.

This photo shows the difference in patterns on the breasts of the three eyasses

Image

All five were present briefly (note too the very distended crop on the one showing how well fed we are)
