Aaah, it's good to see one of the Flevo kestrels back. I'm guessing that once the parents have taught the kids all they need to know (e.g., flying maneuvers, catching food, avoiding predators) and have seen them off on their own, they start returning to their nests. So, it must be a sign of a successful nesting season! :)

Kitten - Great catch of the Swiss kestrel pair together!

But oh, such sad news from Lausen about the second chick . . . it did make me feel better , though, to read those sweet comments by Cheyenne.

Nice catch, kitten! The Swiss kestrels are probably enjoying their free time, now that the kids have left home. ;)

Sorry I haven't got any photos but news from Luigi about the kestrels that were in his care in Rome earlier in the summer. All those that were released have flown away and so we must presume that they are well :?
Alphonse is still with Luigi and is being constantly monitored to assess his feet and how much grip he has. You may remember that his release depends on him being able to grip well.

A hello to everyone and thanks so much for the photos of the Swiss kestrels. Very sad to hear about the little one from Lausen

Warbler - Good to hear from you again. Thanks so much for the update on the Italian kestrels and little Alphonse (although he's probably not so little any more) . . . Luigi has been taking such good care of Alphonse!
