Thanks PattiO. I've been having trouble seeing the cams (Firefox) since they switched servers to azul.streamguys. I am missing this nest so appreciate your images.

Oh I'm so sorry about this.
I sometimes just can't watch Owls because they have so many eggs and when they do you just know something will happen to 1 or 2 of them.
I'm just a big sappy sissy

I just found out about #7. I was actually surprised it made it this far. It's been cold there and I think that played a part. Right now they are all huddled together on the far left side. Too many ants for a good pic right now.

edit - well, here's a pic anyway! :)

And a delivery ...

Sorry Kitten! Tonight I'm so sure #6 will make it either. My slideshow came out backwards. The pics at the end are from the other night and then a few from tonight.

I watched last night too PattiO. The 6th is fighting hard to make it. I swear I can see the sharp angle of it's keel.

Video: Tiny Gets His Fair Share

With six mouths to feed, the Barn Owl parents are very busy. Tiny, who was hatched about ten days after his siblings, can’t compete with his larger, stronger siblings when food is delivered. But Mom is still feeding her youngsters, and she made sure Tiny was fed.

Some chatters on the Audubon website have suggested that Tiny be “rescued” and taken to a rehab center, where he would be fed. Bad idea! First, USFWS and DFG would not allow a healthy chick to be removed from its home. Also, wild birds are TERRIFIED of people, and to be taken from his parents and hand fed by a human would also run the risk of habituating him. Finally and most important is the fact that Mom and Dad can do a much better job.

Around 7:30 PM local time tonight:

According to the BLOG, Mom returned with a mouse and spent some time with Tiny. (looking at the post, that must have been around 9:15 local time, I think) A couple of people have posted that something is wrong with her right wing, although I can't tell whether that is so. She's in her Zen position -- standing there with eyes closed. I'll watch for a while, and I'll post here if I have some news.

Oh beans thanks for the update there and the video, I love the way mom puts him under her chin and feeds him, that other one was going to get some if it was the last thing he did

Video: False Alarm!

The youngsters saw something - was it Dad? They thought it was time to eat and ran out, tumbling over each one, to be the first in line. But alas! No food delivery. Dad is an excellent provider and shortly after this commotion, Mom stepped out of the nest. I didn't stay up late enough (this was shortly after midnight)to see what happened next, but perhaps she was there to intercept the prey so that she could be in charge of dinner (and feed Tiny?).

kitten, did you see a delivery of prey after midnight? I didn't wait to see.....
