A40 showed up on the Sauces Canyon nest about an hour ago. You'll never guess who landed on the nest with him!!

Not A27 ..... A49 ... Princess Cruz!

doberman at RRP forum posted more on the Sauces nest

Things have taken a strange turn at this nest.

The female in this vid is A49, she is supposed to be with her mate A64 at the Santa Cruz Island Fraser Point nest (no cam) incubating eggs. And we thought Norfolk was a soap opera last year!

Here's Yellodog's vid.

Adding a PS to above post. They don't think there was eggs at the nest of A49 and A64.

Last season A49 (Cruz) and A64 (Spirit?) did have egg(s) and a chick ... but it did not survive.

No word on A27. The crew will keep an eye out ... but they are VERY busy right now.

Very strange turn of events ... to say the least.

Ok so Sauces nest so far here is the low down A40 & A27
A27 goes missing enters A49
A49 leaves the nest on March 15th enter A48
A48 leaves A49 comes back and so on and so on
This really must be one heck of a male or PRIME realty or BOTH
But seriously this is one weird nest all these females in and out what the heck is happening it sure would be nice if A27 went to A49's old nest

doberman posted this on RRP forum

As to the Sauce nest .... yesterday we had A40, A49 ... AND A48 on the nest! A48 is another female!! :girlcrazy: And they were all there at the same time ... chasing each other around! Crazyness!

Caltrans ..... since I opened the cam about 10 minutes ago I see the eggs, but no adult???

I am just going to copy JudyB's post from WOW concerning the Caltrans nest. :tantrum2:

One of the eggs hatched late last night - the chick wasn't quite out as it got dark and Mom Liberty settled in to incubate/brood for the night - but the shell had split. We were all thrilled, as a number of us didn't think a hatch was likely, given the amount of time the eggs were left untended while the adults dealt with an intruder.

I was watching this morning, hoping to see the new chick. Liberty finally got up, stretched and flew off - and almost immediately, an adult landed and killed the chick. I don't know if it was the intruder, or if it was one of the resident adults and there was something about the chick that told them it wouldn't survive. My guess is the intruder, but we'll probably never know.
