Information from RRP:

...the Decorah Eagles have begun building an alternate nest. Multiple nest building is fairly common among Bald eagles and we don't yet know which nest they will choose for 2013. We absolutely cannot install cameras at the new nest tree this year, so we may not see the Decorah Eagles for the rest of the 2012-2013 season. We'll miss watching them online, but it is exciting to see them building their new nest. Once again, Mom and Dad are giving us fresh insights into the lives of bald eagles! Stay tuned for updates and information as the season progresses. If the eagles choose the new nest, we will post images and possibly video to facebook and our blog.

Fierce wind. I was so glad that little squirrel did not reappear in a talon. Hope it learned its lesson that an eagle's nest is not the best place to hang around.

Hi Beth, Gigi & sgb :P

The squirrel has been warned. Be careful little one. They have plenty of fish and don't need you on their dinner table.

Ah man....this is really a bummer...I was so hoping that since they had been seen so recently, that they were strongly considering the old nest...

Thanks for the great vids, gorgeous pic and the unfortunate news, Mick...

I saw a report on the Sequoyah chat that Decorah had their first egg on the 19th! (in new nest)

Facebook update about an hour ago
Feb. 28th, Mom Decorah Visits The "Y" Branch ~

Our ground reports are indicating that Mom and Dad Decorah are taking turns incubating on the new nest, with one parent almost constantly on the nest. We are not certain that Mom has laid 3 eggs, but we have no reason to believe otherwise due to the consistency in her egg laying pattern since 2009. Mom and Dad have also been making brief appearances off and on perching on the "Y" branch at the original nest, and today, Mom spent almost an hour on the "Y" branch giving viewers a nice surprise.

this is how it happened at Sidney years back. they would perch on old nest tree and if anyone followed it that year they had 3 chicks which they fed on old nest once they had fledged
