wolf river owl

another attack tonight. But Bonnie keeps coming back. tough one but I am just a wreck.

It flew right at Bonnie but she gets the warning from Clyde and she quickly flew off the back

You could see feathers but i am sure they were the intruders

OH man...I had closed that cam to take a break...I'm glad I didn't see it..I'll check the facebook page to see if they have any info..Gosh...have to worry about the eagles during the day and the owl at night..

she looks ok...I'll post a pic in a few..

I didn't find an official video, but I did find it in the Wolf River Vid Archives. So I just recorded over the attack section. Some chatters are wondering if there is another GHO pair in the area and Bonnie and Clyde are in their territory!!!

I had a discussion about this at chat. But I walked away. There is no way of knowing if this territory was occupied territory by another set of owls. Why did she let Bonnie get as far as she has if there had already been a pair of owls here. I am sure they would have driven Bonnie off sooner before eggs.
Just maybe Bonnie was here first and this one found a site second and now wants Bonnie gone. they heard all their hooting I am sure.

that is why I walked away form chat, because there is no way to know.

I do not think they are too different from other raptors in the fact that they would have known they were here and chased them of f before they had a chance to get going.

Just my thoughts

but this site will kill me. yet.

Quite a bit of soft hooting earlier, I am hoping from Clyde. she did not reply.

What I find interesting is that this intruder owl makes its appearance at Dusk...of course, it could be returning when we are all asleep for all we know...I'm glad to see that Bonnie gets the heck outta there rather than fighting on the nest..I guess she realized after they went talon to talon the other night, that this intruder may be stronger than she. Fight or flight...and she's choosing flight. I hope she makes the same decision if the eagles reappear. I hope that if the eagles are gonna reclaim this nest, that they do it very soon. It would just break my heart if the eagles come in after the eggs have hatched...

Well, IR isn't on and cam is still zoomed way out...at least I didn't see an owl attack at dusk like we've seen before...maybe little Bonnie will have a peaceful night...

light came on and now for some reason cam off I wa watching and recording so nothing happened

I have a short video of Clyde coming in to feed

there was an eagle fly by today but that is it.

It's just me and my human speculation, but perhaps her mate took on two females...and the bigger owl lost her eggs and now she is free to range about...

And I certainly hope if bad things happen at this nest you don't stop watching...I rely on your posts alot! :snowflake6i:

As you allready know.... this goes on everywhere and its only a few places we get to SEE raw nature on cam!!!...

This Bonnie , is a real trooper and i would really like to see her succeed.

the eagles were perched south again and I do worry. and I know that there is not a darn thing I can do.

Cannot watch much tomorrow and maybe that is a good thing

Ms. Harvey
She is almost forgotten among other events but, unfortunately, there have been some strange developments at her nest. Two days ago one of the eggs disappeared from the box. Nobody seems to know how it happened, at least no information is available anywhere (to my knowledge). Some pictures from February 25. Only one egg is visible, when Ms. Harvey leaves the nest.

WOW...did not know that about Ms Harvey...I check on her several times during the day...and she is never out of her "box" YIKES...That makes 2 eggs that she's lost...and now the lost egg at Sequoyah...Thank goodness Mrs. T. and The cuties in Victoria..

Earlier today...hard to see..but this little one came out from under mom for a few...then crawled back under her wing..it was so sweet..I think I need to enlarge the cam some...
