Twizz has reported that Ozzie has removed E3's body,
Then went to the NEST TO CHECK IN ON E4 & it seems that Harriet has pulled it back.
Ozzie must not have got it all the way off. :sum7:

Thanks for the vid, Anniet...this still must be a confusing time for O and H...I've watched Harriet defeather E3...then stop and walk away...Tuesday, the mods/chatters were discussing that H used E3 during 2 separate feeds...I'm thankful I missed that

Mary Anne, I saw it one time myself. Death remains a part of life, and eating the remains is a good option when there is nothing to eat. Fortunately there is plenty of food now so it won't be necessary anymore.

I do understand your sensibility about this and it's a normal emotion. I'm happy to know that your emotions stay within the limits of normal reaction (so are mine). But it's stunning to read that many adult american women overreacted incredibly.. This is probably due to their social education... or...?
Never saw this before until now and even if I really feel for those women this is a such a social mystery for me.

Of course, for a child this would be totally different, and we should not show this kind of images to them if they are not prepared to be able to understand the meaning of life and death for these beautiful eagles.

Anniet...I think some of the "over the top" reactions may have come from first time cam viewers...not sure.

I still wish there could have been an intervention, but I'm more accepting of the fact that there wasn't...nor did I expect one.

I remember the very first time I saw a parent feed a deceased baby to a sibling, I was horrified...but, now I've grown to realize that "recycling" just makes sense. Nothing should go to waste...so, I now try to look at it more spiritually: The deceased eaglet or eyas becoming part of its siblings, helping to nourish and sustain the survivors..There is a very small part of me that still worries about disease/sickness being passed from the dead to the living. But, knock on wood, I've never seen this happen...

Thank you for your answers SGB and Gigi, you help me so much to understand.
Mary Anne, I would call your way of looking at this a spiritual-scientific view.

There must be first time watchers of course, but there also is a sort of social-spiritual phenomenon going on. The US have daily bands with church, spirit, prayers and healing, through television and for everyone, and I would think there is a sort of spiritual group phenomena going on?

That is an interesting perspective that I had not thought about Anniet. I think that is a good analysis for our collective feelings.

And with that being said, the idea of the eagles and other animals having feelings is hotly debated in the scientific realm. I think, with animals, it all goes back to survival of the fittest and in this case, the eagles know that tenderly feeding and caring for their chicks gets allows them to raise the fittest, who is best able to continue their gene pool.

Oh gosh, did I make any sense???

E4 is 49 days old. :loveshow:

It is wind and malfunctioning transmission from the webcam.
Harriet feeds E4, is not very large fish for the child,
and the mother still eats the rest alone
