Terka and rysx - Thanks for the Estonian Black Stork pictures! I'd forgotten how much I used to enjoy these birds and this nest.

I just checked in on the nest, and I'm quite sure that I saw 3 little chicks. (I would have taken a picture, but Mom decided to settle down on the chicks before I could capture the scene.)

Unfortunately, the news is very sad. :egg10: Due to very hot and dry weather storks suffer scarcity of food recently. It pushed them to a very desperate behavior: The parents killed two of their own offspring. :egg10:

Now only three oldest storklets stay in the nest. And the parents spend more and more time outside hunting – trying to provide enough food for the remaining offspring. Will they be successful?

:egg10: Such sad news from the Przygodzice nest. Reading about the parents killing two of the littlest chicks was hard enough, and I couldn't bear to looks at the videos. At least the two chicks didn't suffer a slow death from starvation, and the other chicks now have a chance to survive on what little food is available.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good outcome for the parents and remaining chicks.
