I'm just happy I could get it for Beth to see that is one big egg :egg16: for such a little bird to push out no wonder they only have 1 or 2 that's gotta hurt :egg11:

And if you notice, she has stayed in the same position resting for almost 30 minutes! She now moved back onto the egg and is resting looking around. Im sure thats why their wings quiver so, it hurts! Im so excited though Im just shouting YES ! :egg11: Hope this time she doesnt kick it into the water like last year! Hoping she has gained some experience! Larry wrote in his blog this is probably the same one as last year, so its her 2nd year at this nest. Looking forward to 2 hatchings this year :egg7:

I've tried multiple times to get this loon cam but it just keeps buffering. I can see the ad and then continual buffering. :sunmad: Thanks to all who are posting pics and videos! I wonder if we have egg #2 this morning?

:bonnet: Watched earlier this am and got a pic of Dad coming on the nest so mom could go off and enjoy a swim. She had called him to come with her "mew" cry she softly makes. You can see the eggs under her as she prepares to leave. :flirty:

I found this interesting article about the loon population and BP oil spill.
Link to article

An excerpt,
"COLD SPRING, Minn. — Wildlife experts and enthusiasts say there are encouraging early signs that Minnesota’s loons and other migratory birds fared well while wintering in the Gulf of Mexico after last summer’s massive oil spill, although they say it’s too early to be sure.

Bird-watchers, including Jim Sand, have been worried about the impact of the BP oil spill on the loons and other waterfowl that grace Minnesota lakes from spring through fall but spend their winters on the Gulf Coast. Like he does every spring, Sand put nests out for loons on Big Fish Lake north of Cold Spring in central Minnesota. But he held his breath this year to see if loons would occupy them...."

Thanks for the link Mick...Everyone was really worried about the Loons and the 2011 nesting season.
May take a few years to see the real outcome from the spill (food chain)
