I have not posted in a long time but feel that I must inform you that the weather in Europe has been horrible...cold & rainy. Many chicks have been lost this season & it has been devastating!!
The StorkFathers ( most of them anyway ) have declared that it must be left to nature. Well, I feel that if one of them had a heart attack on the street....should we say the same to them?
It has been heart breaking to watch the parents & remaining sibling depressed. Believe me these animals mourn.
Just please hope that the little ones remaining have a chance to grow enough to get through this mess.
Thanks!!

That is just so sad jjop and I am very sorry. When the little ones hatch you hope
everything goes ok and enough food for all the babies and parents.

Mother Nature throws curve balls to the best laid plans.

It's so good to hear from you again, jjop. But it's not good to hear about how the bad weather is having a devastating effect on the poor little stork chicks. (Isn't this the second year in a row where a lot of stork chicks were lost to cold and rainy weather?)

I'm sending good wishes to keep the remaining little ones safe. I just wish some of the others could have been saved by human intervention instead of being "left to nature."

:girlwithfan: It was so hot here today - new record of 103 degrees- that I went searching for a cool scene and found this one at the Bornheim nest. I felt better when I spotted this lovely serene scene with the storks.

Beautiful picture, Beth. The Bornheim stork nest seems always seems to look most enchanting at night.

The webcam in Mannheim - Luisenpark is still live. The link on the Birdcam preview page did not work any more though, the new address is http://www.luisenpark.de/mein-luisenpark/storchenwebcam

There is a Stork on the nest right now. :-)
