Very strange cloud, almost like a halo

The sea ice is breaking up, some open water near the shore line now

Wonderful pictures posted on here. Wondered when the Gentoos would return. On the second picture from September 6, there's a pure white bird on there. It's called a Snowy Sheathbill.

The Snowy Sheathbill (Chionis albus) stays around the penguin-colonies during breeding season, waiting for an opportunity to grab an egg or newly hatched chick. They also eat spilled food and penguin faeces.

The cams were covered most of the time I watched, but now they have cleared somewhat. Not many penguins around, just a few, hiding from us :lol:

DEF and Ferenz - Thanks for continuing to post the lovely pictures from Antarctica! I don't often post here, but I do often check in to see the wonderful vistas and sunsets - plus I love to see the snow and ice when it's really hot and humid here.
