Sorry I have been MIA for various reasons, so thank you for all the updates...both glorious and heartbreaking.

At the risk of being redundant..but in case we didn't know, UB, Buffalo, has been missing a juvie for a few days now. 3 are seen on a regular basis...I'll need to double check their FB page to see the last time 4 were in view.

I sent them an email which you can read, over on their Fb .
but this is the jist of it
I told them not to worry as this is common. there is always one that seems to be quick study. I told them about our Radisson, who went missing 4-5 days after her fledge in Winnipeg( 2006). They never saw her again, even though they searched everywhere. Well , imagine their great joy, when she turned up in Edmonton , spring of 2008 and has been here ever since.
we had a yellow taped male, years ago , that we just did not see one day. We thought oh well, he has moved on , and moved n he did, He was spotted at a migratory route marsh , east of edmonton

this youngster was not banded this year, so they will never know. I have been taught, no news is good news.
their first fledge was june8. they quit seeing all together around june19-. that 11 days into fledge. perfectly reasonable that it could hunt, and take care of it self. some are loners and quick studies. we have seen prey exchanges just days after fledge. then they go from there.
So I will think good thoughts :7val:

Phoenix, the last remaining juvie in San Jose after the death of his sister 2 weeks ago, flew into the side of a glass wall last night and was killed instantly. RIP Phoenix. :sorrow:

:15heartbeat: C13 the youngest chick at the Charlo nest of Charlotte and Charlie was removed from the nest after dark last evening d/t an injury it received from twine entanglement from about a week ago. The biologist was at the nest last night because the chick had become entangled in twine once again. Go to Misc. USA Osprey to see the updates.

Du Bois..

From Facebook.

Extremely sad to report that Kizzy, 38/CD, was found deceased on Campus... FB stated possible "Window glare"..maybe they meant window strike. It doesn't matter. She did not survive. :tissue:

Somebody also stated that Nut hasn't been seen in a while?

I just wish these glass buildings would put those stickers up to prevent strikes, I hate glass buildings.
this does no only harm our birds but all birds. I have tried in our area. so frustrating. .

They are now saying they are fairly certain it is the oldest chick C12 that the above happened to. We will know more once an update comes in from the facility it was taken to. I am holding out hope, but am concerned this may have been a significant injury initially.
