Sad to report that it appears that QHS, UK has lost 1, probably 2 chicks. :sorrow: (they didn't look good the other day). 1 chick was deceased at daylight. Chick #2 crawled out from the bowl and was not brought back by the parent and my have died from exposure...don't know. it was clearly alive outside the bowl, but appears to have eventually died. One chick was removed by a parent. I can't get the DVR close enough to know which one, but I think it was the one that crawled out. still trying to figure it out....

:dancingegg: For those interested in a unique opportunity: Mother Goose and Father Goose have announced their 2 eggs started pipping simultaneously this morning on their nest they made atop the Charlo Osprey nest this year!! (Charlie and Charlotte the osprey couple that normally nest here are nearby on a nest with probable eggs and can be viewed from afar this season.) The mod reports, about 24 hours after the 2nd hatch has occurred the 2 goslings will follow their Mother out of the nest and jump to the ground to continue their journey in life! (I think this nest is 30 feet in the air.) Goslings are capable of making this jump without injury. I know I was surprised when I 1st learned of this as I have only seen Canada Goose nests on the ground. To get to site: Go to Hog Island Osprey cam from here and the Charlo Osprey cam can be chosen as one of the selection offerings under it.
