A few updates from Facebook:

First some good news.

Warren: Remember they rescued chicks from the Detroit Airport and put 2 of those chicks at Macomb county to be with the lone chick, Gabe. They placed the third chick at Warren to join Chip and Roxy!! The foster chicks name is Harvey, b/bl C/82.

Hamilton: Now for some probable bad news..(I'm still trying to piece together posts on FB) It appears they may have lost Westdale It appears rapid decline in health today with no response during 2 feedings. It is feared that she has already died. I have not been to the cam to watch.

mean Jean posted this on FB( you were righ t SGB

KC Plaza has a cam again this year. 3 eggs, 2 hatches. Female is b/r 96/D. 2011 hatch from Woodmen. I believe they named her Mae. (I'll need to double check.) Her parents were the great Hera and Zeus. We have not had this cam in several years...so, don't know how long she's been there...

So sorry to hear of the loss at Hamilton. I have been checking in on them every now and then. They were all so sweet together. I saw her there but didn't think anything of it. I checked in this morning and saw the post. Very sad. :sorrow:

If you don't have enough falcon cams to watch, North Orange County Community College District in California has one. There's at least 4 juvies ready to take off soon! :10sum:

King

I got band numbers from King (see the topic), and they appear to be blk/blu V80 and V81. I asked Shep to confirm them with Nora! If course, confirming bands do not tell us whether they are female or male.

I think this is same thin g that SF kids had and killed one at hamitlon
why some get and others don't is a mystery, but global warming is affecting our environment terribly. It all trickles down. ( no t being political, just stating what I think)

I know a big study is going on in regards to avian flu. and we have lost more falcons world wide than you can imagine.

I'm leaning toward Trich... I'm also concerned that Red in Richmond had low levels of lead. Don't usually hear about that in falcons..mainly eagles and osprey. This leads me to cams and watching. In the olden days when we had more eyes and fewer cams, we might be able to spot some of these things. My examples:

Ions ago a chick fell from the box at Elk River. How many of us must have called and alerted security! sure enough they found it in a precarious location.
Same at Columbus. We knew a chick was stuck somewhere. Several of us called security, who called Donna.
Then at Harrisburg several years ago. We knew something was wrong with one of the chicks. (Thank goodness Reenie was still working there). Sure enough, it had Trich.
More recently, Bev. being aware that the male was missing at Genesee!!
Thankfully the people at the Cromer, UK nest recognized something was wrong and rescued. But it was too late.
I don't think I could readily recognize Trich unless the cam was close and I watched several feeds.

All I know is I saw the Jackson chick the day or day before it died..and it looked robust and healthy with a full crop. (it had been a while since I had checked on Wayne state and hamilton)

Choking: never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought about choking...but that's how one of the prefledge eagles at the Arconic (?) nest died...cam watchers sadly watched it live.

That's my soapbox for the day.
