You can see that the second one is still a bit wet but otherwise happily tucking into its first feed!

Alice and Virgilio - all three chicks hatched yesterday, two in the very early morning and the other in the late afternoon. As soon as there's a decent picture I'll post it.

Here are a couple of photos of Alice feeding her chicks where you can just about make out three heads:

Aria and Vento
For the moment, it looks as though Aria and Vento have just got 3 chicks. Who knows if the other egg will hatch?

I can confirm that Aria and Vento have 3 chicks and they're looking very healthy, too. Here's a feed from earlier today

Hearing Aria's encouraging clucks and the peep of the chicks is wonderful...

Carlo and some Telecom technicians have tweaked the cam on Alice and Virgilio and the image is now much sharper. Grrreat!

The chicks have grown so much it's getting difficult to fit them all under.

The chicks were ringed today. There are pictures of the ringing of Alice and Virgilio's chicks and those of Aria and Vento at:

Wow, great pictures. That one chick in the guy's hands looked really small. And the one with it's head turned and eyes wide open. :lol:

Well it always looks so traumatic, but they are soon back to normal.

And the one being weighed, I guess.

The chicks are quite young - the three from Alice and Virgilio hatched on 15 April and the three from Aria and Vento hatched on 13 April (2) and 15 April so they're all only 2 weeks old or just over. The chicks from Aloha and Falcao are the same age.

It's very interesting to note how the sizes of the chicks in the two nests differ. Even the last to hatch of Aria and Vento is quite a lot bigger than those of ALice and Virgilio - and all four chicks hatched on the same day :roll:
