The general feeling on the Italian forum seems to be that there's little hope that the eggs are viable because they've been left uncovered too often and too long.
Personally, I think we should wait a few more days - we've seen all too often how peregrines surprise everyone, before giving up hope completely.

This nest is plucking at my heartstrings.

Love your vid sgb. She's a beautiful bird.

The eggs will be removed quite soon and probably examined to understand what happened, although it's probably the result of them being left alone for a long time on a cold Sunday :egg15: .
It's unfortunate but it happens - and particularly heart-tugging now that the male has finally understood what he has to do :egg16: .

Warbler, Is that the new male on the nest in sgb's last pic? I have trouble getting this cam to load so I can't recognize faces too well.

Thanks!

I'm not too good on spotting the difference with these two either but I think it's the female. She has a full helmet but here's a photo of the male from our forum:

Perhaps this will help you :egg9:

BTW Dutch Eagle Fan has suggested on our forum that we wait a few days before removing the eggs. He says that there have been cases of eggs hatching after 6-7 weeks from the date they were laid! I'll keep you posted on what happens...

Dutch Eagle Fan is a she by the way :egg11:

(I posted the info about the Pittsburgh Gulf tower nest of 2010. Tasha's two eggs hatched after 56 (or 57/58) days.)

See? ! I was right in keeping faith in Mother Nature!!! :egg5: :egg5: :egg5:

@ Warbler: No need to say sorry :egg8: It's not always easy to know the gender of a forum member. Nicknames can confuse and only when somebody is posting some personal info one can be sure. :egg119:
