The feeding was hectic. Saw feathers, feet , etc go down and little one was getting his share, although the pictures don't show it.

Thank you Colibrì67. Do you know if they will try to determine what happened to the chick?

update on pulletto dead
This afternoon I went to the nest of Air and Wind for:
-Recover pullo the dead before they deteriorate too
-I wanted to understand the causes of this death
-not want to leave the body to his brothers had died of the disease if there was a risk to contaminate
-intendevo Zooprofilattico bring the body to the Institute for analysis and understanding the causes
-I wanted to retrieve the egg hatched before it was broken by chicks
-Clean the cam
-Check the health status of the other two chicks, and as I was
-n and I took the opportunity to measure them.
I left turned on the cam and I commented operations while doing so if anyone was listening not scared of my arm ..
Results:
the pullo died weighed less than 1/3 of the other and it was much smaller in size: 72 mm Weight 205 wing.
The other two (female?) Were 615 and 625 g in weight with wings respectively of 112 and 125 mm.
I immediately recognized the cause of death of the chick (and therefore has not been the case to send him to zooprofilattico):
had the palate and throat massively obstructed by plaques d Tricomonas, a protozoan that causes the death of pigeons and probably infected by eating a pigeon that if it is taken. Raising pigeons I immediately recognized the signs of infection and lesions produced by the parasite.
It 's very strange that the two brothers were rather good, with the palate in perfect condition. The development of lesions with yellowish exudates takes time and judging by the level of dramatic extension of these lesions in the palate the dead chick must have contracted the trichomonas since the first days of life in a very aggressive form. The chicks are more sensitive than adults and trichomonas debilitation and stress are factors that favor the parasite. The chick was born April 6, with the second, then only one day after the first born. This is not a delay of note, in the past we've seen chicks born several days after the first, and still make it. However, a bird in good health, or pigeon hawk, do not take the trichomonas ...
Probably not a good start, perhaps for problems during development in the egg, and his weakness has the advantage trichomonas.
The egg that I recovered was barren. Female birds are detoxify depositing eggs contaminants accumulated in the course of their lives. Maybe the egg is the first sterile deposed (which contained more), the dead chick that developed in the second egg (with fewer contaminants but that still left him weak during development)? ...
And the first time that we happen a hawk died for trichomonas. About breeding falcons in captivity instead observes it more frequently.
Now we will watch on two brothers: next Monday we will return to the nest for inanellarli. On this occasion we will observe carefully their palate and if there is any sign of injury we will give them a pasticchetta of dimetridazole (which I will take with me) that represents a specific treatment and effective against the disease. Giac
