As someone spotted the other day, the nest on the Telecom Italia tower - Alice and Virgilio, is back on line. Yesterday, there was a post saying that a check had been made on the equipment and, as we can see, everything works well. There was clear evidence of regular and recent prey and falcons have been seen regularly in the area - but there's no guarantee that they're the 'original' Alice and Virgilio.
Anyway, here's one

Here's a technical update for the two Rome nests - Aria and Vento and Alice and Virgilio.There's a new streaming system and here's a translation of the information posted in the Italian forum.

"Unfortunately, you now have to have an editing program to save pictures. Simply press 'Print' or whatever on the top right of your keyboard and the whole page you're looking at will be saved. Then use your editing program (e.g. GIMP) to cut and save.

To save a film, I advise using the following program, that can be downloaded here:
http://camstudio.org/

It's very easy to use and very user-friendly so I don't think there'll be problems in using it. Unfortunately, adverts open from time to time but this is the price to pay for having such high quality pictures!"

If you have any problems, please let me know in a PM and I'll send them on to Carlo, our new technical man, who posted this information. We'd also like to know whether you prefer the streaming as it is now or the old system of frames every 2-3 seconds. Once again, if you let me know, I'll send your comments on.

Speaking personally, I have a Mac (system Snow Leopard) and I've found that I can use the app 'Istantanea' - not sure what it is in the English version but I haven't yet tried it out for films. I'll try some more and then let you know if it's successful.
