Thank you for the montage, Kittenface- Its funny to see that many of the babies have fledged. Do you think Tahoe's have too? There were just there the day before...

Well I posted on the blog and asked about the camera, BUT as slow as they are to even read or print a post it could all be said and over.
As far as Tahoes little ones I think there is a nice ledge right below the rail so maybe there or right around. They are about 4 days or so younger that Pleasant Prairie & they just took off flying 2 days ago, so my guess is they are running around.
These are 2 pm & 3 pm today see where this one is sitting? Sometimes I bet you all think I'm crazy when I post a picture and you don't see a Falcon, but I forget to put an arrow pointing to it :teehee:

OK girls, you have given me my chuckle for the day! Thanks, Kittenface for "poking the bear" just a bit to see if they would put MCPP on the live cam.... And I see how the babies can be down below the nestbox - but what about that picture of Tahoe snarfing down the prey By Herself - no juvies around at all ??? I will remain optimistic that we might see this nestbox on the cam soon. Generally I am an optimistic sort, but these past couple weeks with the peregrines have been pretty tough....

& now I am getting paranoid, the first pic is today second is yesterday & it is Tahoe or Lightning. Big difference to me, the 1st is older.
What do you all think?

Hi Kittenface, well, quite the stills we have there, aren't they? Im not good at telling the differences in falcons, but..... I looked at Tahoe's picture from when she was at BioSci, Lightning's picture from BioSci, and watched the video of Madame X too.... I think the first picture is Tahoe, and the 2nd picture is (imagine that!) Lightning. Malars are the black area that goes down their cheek and neck, right? Lightning has slightly thicker malars, like this guy. Well - that's what I think. IF it is Lightning, then he is flying between nests? How quickly can a peregrine fly 10 miles (SGB measured it, right?) Well, actually there are 2 falcons in the 2nd picture......

Thanks for your analysis Tsusan. I really have trouble with the nuances when it comes to identification.

As far as how long does it take a falcon to traverse the route. Good question. I doubt if he is flying at top speed.

OK good thank you Tsusan my eyes are getting worse and I can't seem to bring myself to go get stronger glasses. Glad you have an eye for the coloring & markings. Now I can settle down a bit.

Good job!! Malars are what I call "sideburns"...totally unbird like, I know..

I just looked up cruising speed of a PeFa: 55-60 mph...so, less than 10 minutes between sites...its doable. If he is going between sites, why? Why would he "battle" with a resident male, with chicks, when he has chicks and a territory of his own. That's assuming he is at both sites. Thinking out loud now...what if Hoffman wasn't involved in a battle with Lightning, but died from something else and Lightning just stepped in...OR Lightning was displaced at Milwaukee by another male and he in turn battled with Hoffman and displaced him...

I guess we'll never know unless we get lucky and see bands of the adult(s) at Milwaukee..

The male falcon (Lightning) who had been at the Milwaukee county nest has gone to the Bio Sci nest in the city of Milwaukee. The female at Milwaukee county seems to be raising the babies by herself. Have any of the Milwaukee County power plant seen evidence of 2 adult falcons at this nest?

The female currently at MCPP is (b/r) 33/U, We kept a close eye on the box until the young fledged but never saw a second adult at the nest box. Whether or not a male had been on site is hard to say, but a male certainly could have been present or coming and going. The female brought in plenty of prey and kept her chicks well fed. She must have somehow been aware of their increased appetites because she brought in a lot of pigeons, which are larger and go much further than blue jays, starlings and the like. All the young at MCPP and UWM successfully fledged, and we have no reports of downed or injured young. At this point, all seems well.
