[quote="kittenface"]This was posted on the blog about Miss Tahoe

Anonymous June 25, 2014 at 6:20 PM
The male falcon (Lightning) who had been at the Milwaukee county nest has gone to the Bio Sci nest in the city of Milwaukee. The female at Milwaukee county seems to be raising the babies by herself. Have any of the Milwaukee County power plant seen evidence of 2 adult falcons at this nest?

The female currently at MCPP is (b/r) 33/U, We kept a close eye on the box until the young fledged but never saw a second adult at the nest box. Whether or not a male had been on site is hard to say, but a male certainly could have been present or coming and going. The female brought in plenty of prey and kept her chicks well fed. She must have somehow been aware of their increased appetites because she brought in a lot of pigeons, which are larger and go much further than blue jays, starlings and the like. All the young at MCPP and UWM successfully fledged, and we have no reports of downed or injured young. At this point, all seems well.

THANKYOU, Kittenface for posting this information about Tahoe!! And THANKYOU to whomever asked the blog the question, and... THANKYOU to the WE person who replied. I think young Miss Tahoe is quite a falcon. :girlluv:

Tsusan,
Miss Tahoe has proven she is going to be around a long while, even if its not on cams we will be hearing her name for a long time to come. But in my opinion I think since there has been no news or sightings of Madame X I think this nest is going to stay with Tahoe.

:egg19: Thanks again, Kittenface, I enjoy looking at the videos you put together! When I checked the hourly snaps, I was surprised and pleased to see 2 of Tahoe's juvies hanging around the nest box.... Many of the other nests were empty, with a few glimpses of the backs of adults, but Brin posed very nicely - she looks big! And I encourage everyone to check out the gallery of WE juvies on page 1 of this thread. Very cute!

Sorry these are so badly put together I haven't had a minute to myself in the past couple weeks, I'm trying to slow down but it just isn't working. Soon I'm going to tell everyone here and at work enough is enough. I have birds to watch :egg19:

:girlyes: Aww Kittenface - I So appreciate the videos you put together, and ALL the other little things you do to clarify things for fuzz heads like me! You just need to get away for a while! I know a nice nest box that isn't being used right now in the Milwaukee area. There is a cam there so not a lot of privacy, but its very airy.... :teehee:

:egg8: Thank you for the video montages of the WE nests! It is kinda neat to see a couple of the juvies still checking in... Im glad Ms. Valley is starting to turn her attention elsewhere... Do they know her name, or the tiercel's name? It was nice to see Tahoe there in one catch, too.

Tsusan, I haven't seen anything yet on who our couple is at Valley.
I have only read they are new, if I see anything I'll be right here with info for sure. I am so curious to who they are.

Fellow falcon sleuths, On the 3:00 pic of a Valley falcon (which I viewed at 2:00 so is the pic really from yesterday?) anyway, the falcon is showing lots of leg, and I don't Think it has a band?

As the falcon flies – Like father, like son
If you’ve ever wondered what can be gained from falcon banding, here’s an interesting story.

Our peregrine manager, Greg Septon, has made an interesting discovery about the new resident male at our Valley Power Plant. He’d been trying to track this peregrine falcon for some time, unsuccessfully. But now, the mystery is solved.

Recently, Greg was finally able to read the bird’s band number: (b/r) 60/H. The falcon is otherwise known as Hercules. Turns out, Hercules was produced just a couple years ago at the St. Joe’s Hospital nest box in Milwaukee, so he hasn’t strayed far from his birth place.

But there’s an even better twist. Hercules is the offspring of another falcon who was born at the Valley Power Plant. Greg banded Hercules’ dad, Herbert, at our Valley plant back in 2004. So, one of Herbert’s sons is now occupying the same nest box where his father was produced a decade ago. Like father, like son!

Here’s Hercules at Milwaukee’s Valley Power Plant:

I just read this KF! I will update the cam and info page with this! I just love when the bands connect the dots.
