Before I stopped watching...there have got to be injuries!! Since the cam operator was aware, hopefully somebody can check the area for downed bird(s)

A breathtaking 20:47min video of that fight by eva lis. I guess both falcons were banded males
and the poor guy which was trapped in the corner might have lost his life and was taken out
of the nest box...so sad

when you say he was taken out of the box, what do you mean??. did they both leave together, or did human take one out??

we have seen much worse. talons were locked a lot. I always err on side of being positive.
I did nto see talon marks on chest areas

hopefully all is well

hopefully they check.

last year everyone thought the worst at Omaha. And at demortel a few years ago.

fingers crossed( I know you must get tired of my optimism, just seen so much .)

@bev, please watch the last seconds 8:43:21 - 8:43:27 of eva's video:
that falcon was thrown down on his back like a prey, he didn't move.
Do you think that a defeatet falcon in that position couldt stand up in 6 sec and escape?

his wings were still moving. they are so quick.

I guess I never believe the worst as I have seen the worst and seen them both survive. Of course , we have seen them die also, so I am reserving judgement. I watched it a few times and still think one down was moving and may have given one thrust, and turned and fled

well I do not argue these points.

We will see. I have seen them turn over in a fight when they are seemingly pinned( at my site)

so I never presume what I cannot see.

still hope for the best

Thanks for the morning coverage and the pics. After yesterday's horrible fight, glad to see Lightning still there and appears to be ok. I'm hoping we're wrong about the intruder and that he is ok too.

After watching most of the fight live, and then the vid, I have to wonder: As a falcon, I have just defeated the intruder, possibly mortally wounding him. Wouldn't I step aside to rest (it was a very long fight) before either leaving, alone, or with "the enemy" in tow...a bird close to my size and weight. Maybe it did get away but could have some serious wounds on throat/chest area..who knows..

well, I wish they would give news if they found anyone. But our biologist has always said no news is good news.

I truly have seen worse fights and saw the defeated leave to heal and then turn up somewhere else a few weeks later.

and I have also seen them find the defeated falcon and rehab them. so all sorts of possibilities , wish i was watching form ground becasue the body language of resident male would tell us a lot.

fingers crossed. :15heartbeat:
