This is Moxie’s normal behavior during egg laying time. Actually her mom used to drive us crazy too :loveheart:

Moxie was standing dutifully in her scrape, then took time to stretch her wings and legs. Then Jamie came to give her a pep talk and they flew off together…

Looking at the cam a little before 5:00 am this morning, Jamie was in the nest bowl, then Moxie arrived and they switched places. At approximately 5:08 it looked like she was going thru the egg laying motions and went to sleep shortly thereafter. She slept for almost 2 hours. Woke up, preened a little and then went off camera to probably have breakfast. Moxie, you are giving me gray hair!! :girlcrazy:

The male at GSB doesnt appear to be able to nab a mate!

Its a race! Moxie and her daughter Carla, in Pittsburgh are both “in the position” in their scrapes!

I haven't noticed Moxie being gone a lot and I keep the cam up. What I'm concerned about is Moxie's age. It seems to be taking too long. I hadn't considered an intruder. Well, maybe it will happen today. :thumbupegg:

Edit: Carla just laid egg 1! Maybe her mom is next! :clap:

This week has been a difficult one. Not sure what is going on with M & J. On Thursday and Friday, It appeared to me that she was having difficulty laying an egg. I thought perhaps she was egg bound? But then on Saturday she seemed normal. Then today her and Jamie were both on edge at various times. I don't know if they had another raptor cruise by (there are Red-tails in the area) or if one or both of them are being challenged. (starts at approximately 10:30am EST cam time). In fact I was so concerned that I drove downtown to see if could see anything going on. I only saw one bird in the air cruising towards the box. If they are being challenged, I'm sure that stress would affect the egg laying?

So happy though that M & J are going to be grandparents again :loveheart:

I have seen them vocalizing a lot -
but without souond I dunno if its kakking - at an intruder - or just noraml chatter

Moxie walked to the front of the box, without any difficulty and with a pep in her step. We'll be glad when she lays egg 1. :thumbupegg:
