i did catch a quick feeding in Hanover earlier this morning. The eaglets were fed a little bit and then mom (?) eagle settled back down on them. It been snowing here off and on all day, and not even up to freezing yet. Don't know, but I think the fish are sort of stashed up there around the edges of the nest. Looks like a good supply. :-)

Just watched a feed that was already underway. It looked like the one who was getting all the food kept pecking the other one. In fact, I got concerned about whether the one was moving so I enlarged the cam screen. It was moving but not really going after the food. I hope it hogged out before I turned in & was full, but I don't think that's the case. This is why I don't get into many eagle nests but prefer falcons who don't intimidate their siblings into not eating. There are some exceptions, like the Northeast Florida (Nick & Noelle) where the smaller one gave as good as he got & they both ended up healthy & best buds!

There is certainly no shortage of food at this nest in Hanover. Not sure what she was feeding them today, it was big.

Try again, Jane. I'm getting it.

There is an abundance of food at this nest & has been since hatching began--dad is a good provider!

Caught the end of another feeding. Same behavior that I saw yesterday, but they both had their heads up for food.

I was able to watch the feeding in Hanover a bit ago. One seemed to get more than the other one, but they kept changing positions so it's hard to tell. Interesting article in today's Harrisburg paper about the fish they're getting. Most of them are trout. I'm not that good with fish ID.

They're getting the good stuff if they're getting trout!

Just saw another feed. The first couple of times the one in front picked up his head to get a bite, the one in back bonked him. Later in the feed apparently the one in back was full so he let the one in front eat. There is so much food there that there's no reason they shouldn't both get their fill!

I think they were already full when I checked in this morning.

The Pittsburgh Hays nest has failed this year. Both eggs appear to have broken. :(

I was trying to figure out what that thing was, too. Half looks like a dead Crow. I know it wasn't there earlier, and didn't see what happened.

Its gotten pushed back so it won't block our view of the eaglets. :flirty: Now I'm wondering if that's maybe a baby skunk. That seemed to be a tail that was over toward the eaglets. There also appears to be some white on it. Mom keeps looking at it like she's really not pleased its there.

If the food deliveries keep coming in the way they are, there soon won't be any room for the eaglets! :teehee:

Well, I sent some email off to somebody who can enlarge the picture. Maybe she will be able to figure out what it is. I don't think eagles have much of a sense of smell. I suppose they would carry it off if it bothered them. Am certain it is NOT a fish. :-)

I enlarged and could not figure out what it was. White ears and stripes on the body. Maybe.

FYI - Both Pittsburgh nests (Hays & Harmar) have failed this year. There is speculation that it was related to the weather. We had some severe and sudden swings in temperature and lots of moisture. That could lead to the formation of bacteria, which may have led to the collapse of the eggs before their due date. Very disappointed, but the pairs are still together, and we're hoping for the best next year.
