Has anyone noticed any problem with Harriet's balance? It was mentioned in the chat this morning, but the comment was ignored by the mods. I've reviewed several vids and I see NO problems... Anyone?

I'm afraid I am very behind watching this cam, so I haven't seen her enough to have an intelligent opinion. Remember this was an issue with her last year as well (briefly)...but, I never saw it last year either...

i also remember last year when some thought there was a problem, and I never did see one. Sometimes things are overthought. We must remember that these eagles are large and are extra careful when around the eggs. Depending on where eggs are she may have to tread carefully, so to speak.
And it has been wet and raining. and it is breezy.

wonder if the intruder was our young male from before.

M15 is proving to be an excellent mate.

M15 was smart and when watching video he was away form eggs when he kicked immature off nest. They continue to amaze me, no matter how many years I watch.

I agree.
The adults know they are literally walking on eggshells! :5val: Harriet looks fine to me.

Bonbon, I did see the balance issue last season. I always felt it was d/t stiffness and/or pain after laying on the nest to incubate for long periods. After all, she is not a young chick. You should see me rising from a chair. :teehee: I have learned to flex/extend my knees and ankles several times before getting up. Does she have osteoarthritis? Here's a video from UrDogNu on 12/21/14 ... Watch how stiff she holds her talons when walking off the nest ... Don't remember if it is in this video, but the balance issues continue off the nest while she is perched on one of the dead trees ...

The balance issues are well documented in videos and ... in time ... she was none worse for the wear ... :snowflake2:

Thanks, everyone! I sure do remember Harriet's issue last year (there was a theory that she may have had a fishhook stuck...)...
I've watched quite a bit this season - and I've seen most of wskrnwgs' and urdognu's videos... and I haven't seen anything either. I agree - the 'overthinking' - (and worrywortitis) can be an issue.

(Swinwk - same here! Mornings are ROUGH! Stagger-Stagger-Hobble-Hobble! :teehee: :girlyes: )

And sometimes bullheadedness, HS, ignorance, and rose-colored glasses such as the ones this snowflake is wearing :snowflake2: cloud the issue! :teehee: No over-thinking will be allowed!!! Put that in your bowl and smoke it!

M15 has a very large fish he is eating on the OCT ... so big it's just swinging as he eats ... meanwhile Harriet has been screaming for him to bring it to her, but he just glances over @ her ... now she has stood up ...

Think it may be a catfish as I see whiskers, but down there the fish are so different from what I am accustomed to ... he still hasn't caved in ... :teehee: 4:56 They are reporting she flew off nest to talk to him about it, but to no avail and she flew back to nest ... she's tiffed ... jerking nest materials toward her and now screaming bloody murder!!! 5:01 Think the head is off now and he's gutting it ... she's standing again ... 0505 chat reported she made a 2nd trip to the tree and back to her nest still fussing ... it's over 1/2 gone now ... 0513 Harriet is finally @ peace as M15 dropped the remains and Harriet flew to the ground to finish off ... M15 currently on nest duty! :teehee:

Read on chat a video was obtained of event. :6snowflake:

Capture is of M15 with his fish in tree, but imagine driving home from work and you got to see M15 flying home from the river with his "catch of the day!" :teehee:

Cam capture by Uta GroBe :shock
