Thanks, Bev - Here's the update:
(on top of everything - human intruders also :tantrum2: )
Intruder Male, Not Done Yet
Unfortunately, IM (Intruder Male) is back and was on the nest today. This explains the late arrival this morning by Taylor, and the vocals when he did this morning. In fact he did not brood today. In my visit there late morning, and early afternoon I did not see another eagle but Taylor was also gone most of the time as well. Everyone needs to understand the delicate balance here. Apparently, this nest is the crown jewel or one might think so with all the turmoil we have experienced as viewers into their world. This type of behavior may actually be on the rise in more places than just E4K. We know there were disputes on the new Decorah North Nest or DNN. All seems settled there now, but we have to expect more difficulty here. Just the way it is. Luckily we have had nice temperatures yesterday and today. However, the area will notice cooler temperatures next week. Not like last year, but not 65° either. Stay tuned. I also got a call of people on the bridge. We ask people to please stay away during this time. More intrusion may cause abandonment.

OH NO!
IM is incubating. Blair is in the den hollering for Taylor.
(I would love to see 2 males and 1 female here - like the Trio nest - don't think it will happen....)

11:59am (nest time)

Image

note: Blair's egg #2 may be due today
Added: Mods are saying IM is not incubating - he's 'standing over the egg.' Someone (Blair? Tay?) covered the egg when they flew off.
12:11pm Nest and branches are empty. Sure hope no one gets hurt.

ferenz, this is not IM. IM is gone for now. we hope he does not come back

Taylor came in but Blair wants to be alone so TAylor is on den.

that was Taylor and Blair in your photo

at 9:42, Blair is asleep and TAylor standing guard

hoping for a peaceful time here now.

From Updates page:

Very Nice Switch
This is day 8 and day 5 for the eggs. Yesterday was a tough day to watch as the eggs were being watched over but not incubated for two hours in one stretch. Yes, we realize that is not something anyone wants to see, but we continue to watch. Is there a chance they won't hatch? Absolutely. I for one have seen a miracle too. We understand that the eagle's actions may be upsetting. If that is the case, please choose to not observe at this time. If you have any educational information to add, please do. We have thought and continue to think that Blair is also young. We know Taylor is. The entire situation with the intruder in mid February had a lot to do with what we are observing. What we see as him ignoring and chasing after her, and standing by her when she eats looks like "mate guarding." We are not sure why she would perch above for so long with him and leave the eggs unattended. She did appear yesterday to try and push him to go down to the nest. We hope that people can learn something from this nest. No matter what happens.

Visitor Comes In
Day 9 & 6 Complete
Whenever there is another eagle in the mix it makes it difficult to know who is who. It takes us a bit too. This visitor is probably male. It does act curious, not aggressive. It did roll the eggs and pull some of the nesting material. We have not seen Taylor much today, and he has not brooded. This is likely why. Taylor is doing what he can under the circumstances. When he did come in, he would chase after Blair. That is also normal in this situation.

Here's an interesting video (by Keith Beyer)...
Last night, Blair was brooding, as usual. Taylor comes down to the nest to brood (approx. 1:00 am nest time!).
A couple of hours later, Blair wants to brood - Taylor doesn't want to get up. Finally, he exposes the eggs...
(6+ minute video - you can skip to approx. 3:30 to see an unusual Changing of the Guard.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULW1rQwsbho

Taylor's limp is obvious when he gets up - wonder if brooding gives him a bit of pain relief?

from Daily Updates:
We are in a winter storm WARNING! The nest area "could" get up to 14" of snow. Overall today was a really good day for Taylor. He got some really good incubation time. One time was over 2 hours. Let's see how they weather the storm. B & T knew the storm was coming. They started showing us by bringing in nesting material yesterday and continued today. Isn't that amazing how animals know? And they don't even have radar!! Taylor actually came in during the night. That doesn't happen much. Maybe he wanted to give his foot a rest.
