Caught another feed. Same outcome. Baby #2 didn't get up...nor even move...I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think he made it.. :sorrow:

...I sure hope somebody else sees something different next time mom gets up..... :sum7:

Sad loss of the remaining eaglet at the Blackwater Refuge nest :sorrow:

March 1, 2015 — bald eagle, birds, Blackwater Refuge, Eagle, hatchling, nature

I am so very sorry to report the sudden loss of the remaining eaglet at the Blackwater nest. After the death of the smaller eaglet a week ago, the remaining eaglet seemed to be thriving and was seen active and eating early this afternoon. Unfortunately a later view showed the deceased eaglet laying outside the nest bowl. It is unknown what happened.

So sad, I fear this is happening all over the mid Atlantic with the unusually bad weather. Poor Lisa :(

I am just stunned. I followed while I was away. so odd. the thing was, a lot of times both parents were on the nest.

so sad here but I keep seeing them on osprey cam. Now they report first sighting of osprey a few dasy ago, so hopefully this does not deter them

good thoughts for a great season this year. One on osprey cam right now. Hopefully they get eagle cam up and running soon :leafthumbsup:

Nest Update

11/7/15:
Technical Note...
Craig Koppie with the USFWS climbed the tree recenlty to check the cam. We have a bad cable that we
need to replace before the cam can operate again, so we're working on that issue. Craig did say eagles
had been bringing new nesting material to the nest, which is a good sign.
