Hopefully they go to the nestbox to sleep, so we can still see them!

Scrolling back through the DVR, you could see 2 sets of human legs...and then the rotating of the cam. I could hear the parents kakking in the background.

I wonder if the chicks have been taken to one of the hack locations.

I was wrong. It must have been yesterday morning that I scrolled back through the DVR and heard the chicks. I just did that and heard nothing...but, the volume on the cam seems much less than normal...and I have my computer volume turned up as high as it will go.

Bryan took the chicks out today and fixed the cam. They are doing work on the bridge so he didn't want to leave them.

Didn't they remove the chicks permanently at banding in the past? Because of the dangers on this bridge location?

Sorry, yes, they were hacked because there is work on the bridge. I don't think they are hacking all the bridge falcons anymore. I was super pissed about the reckless behavior from the worker, who was apparently trying to take a picture and mom knocked the phone out of his hand onto the platform. She may be young, but she is a contender! I'm going to do what I can to keep this cam going since he is 18. We need to keep track of him.

Having seen the human the incident happen in realtime, I was first shocked, then so angry when it was clear that a man was doing something he shouldn't, and that he and his buddies thought it was funny. Along with the danger to the falcons that were only a few days old, it deprived us of being able to watch them mature. I thought that they must have been contractors that didn't know better, and that they would be banished. But, after hearing their voices, it is clear that they were aware of where and what was happening. Punks!!!

obxbarb1 and blueskygirl and been mentors for me in developing my knowledge and research skills, and I appreciate their efforts on behalf of the birds. I share their passion for these birds.

Just a shame that the thoughtless actions of a few can spoil it for the rest of us. If they thought that the female falcon was a bad deal, I wish that I could have been there to defend them, instead. If there are ever plans to charge them with something other than stupidity, I would be happy to pass along what I saw and heard.

stay safe,
nick

thanks so much, Barb....and good for Mom!!! I sure hope his phone broke....stupid, stupid, worker...I sure hope he got reprimanded. Obviously he didn't realize he was being watched and recorded....and maybe he did and didn't care.

I keep checking the cam...and have seen Mom sporadically...now just hoping that JJ will pop by!!

Nick, so great that you have checked in with us...I know you really have been monitoring this cam and keeping track. We sure do appreciate it!!

Oh my goodness, thank you all so much for the details. I was worried and sad about this falcon family. Like you all I am so sorry the parents do not have the chicks, but it seemed like volatile situation with the construction going on.

Hmm, I guess mom (I call her Tawny) showed the one guy, huh? Question—is there any way to see the discussion from last season? I’d love to revisit the pics if so.

Thank you all,
Kathy

Here you go Kathy. I think I saw the archives go back to 2009, when we started this forum.

JJ comes in, the right wing has a slight cut. Is this bird already 18 years old?
