Two eyases !! Congratulations Dana and Rounder!

Veolia- I just watched a feeding, and I am exhausted! When mom came in with the prey, one eyas was trapped on his back, with sibling laying against him. I kept yelling “ get up! Get up!” as he struggled to get up for several minutes. When he finally got up, it seems he was ignored- many mouthfuls went to the other sibling. Finally toward the end the wobbly one got several mouthfuls, and the sibling did a face plant.....Whew!

Tsusan...I am so glad you caught a feed!! With this cam, I am never sure if I'm yelling at the cam or the parent in the box...

Yes, this cam is kind of stressful to watch- I caught an eyas laying on its back again, but at least it got up pretty fast..... Dad did the second feeding I saw today, again, and it almost seems he needs a softer touch with these tiny eyases...I’m hoping as the eyases get bigger and stronger I won’t be wincing as much during the feedings....

This cam is not working correctly, but I did manage a glimpse of two little fuzz balls peeking out from under mom...

Been there, done that, for sure.

Veolia- Feeding time- mom is doing a good job of feeding gently, but right now one chick is positioned right in front of its sibling, blocking him from getting as many bites as chick #1. Hopefully new mom Dana will figure out to position herself so the babies are side by side....

A beautiful, stress free feed this morning. Mom positioned herself so the babies were more or less beside each other, and then held a very calm gentle feeding session. BRAVO, Miss Dana!!

Veolia...I finally caught a feed!!

Veolia - These two are growing fast- though it seems a little tricky to find the parent feeding them. I do catch some on the rewind. Both seem active and healthy ...The smaller one(boy?) seems to like to pick on the bigger one (girl?)..... One time he was reaching over to pick at her foot while she was sleeping and unexpectedly she sat up, trapping his head under her...And she just sat there until brother pulled his head loose...

Veolia- Boy these two chicklets spend a lot of time by themselves.Kind of reminds me of Lansing last year? When the single chick seemed so lonely. At least these two have each other....

FINALLY I get to see a feeding. Both kids acted like they hadn’t eaten in a while, sometimes fighting over bits of food mom offered. When the food was gone both chicks walked up to mom like they needed more....I hope she will bring another offering...kids are watching. I keep wondering if this indifferent behavior from mom is because of inexperience, or is something else (an intruder ?) interfering?

These two are getting bigger and bigger- Their little pin feathers are starting to show on their wings and tails. I only catch a parent there when there is a food delivery. This morning the parent only fed them for a short while and then left for them to self feed. The chicks are still pretty polite with each other. One was still picking at the prey and the other came over and started to pick too. I thought” wow look at them sharing” But then sibling #2 reached in and gradually took control of the prey. #1 showed their resentment by giving #2 a peck on the head....And at some point Recently , Greg Septon sneaked in and banded them ...

I just witnessed a very nice feed this morning, conducted by dad. Plenty of prey, with each chick trying to get more than the other...

Uh- oh....the little buggers are now big enough that they can easily watch over the top of the ledge for mom or dad....How long until they decide to leap up there themselves?

Well, there you have it- I found one juvie up on the ledge this morning, enjoying the view. They’ve adjusted the cam view a little so you can see more of the ledge, but less of the nestbox. Ive only seen one baby this morning, but I’m hoping the other is sleeping out of view.

These two cuties are both on the ledge this morning. I rarely see the parents, but these two seem devoted to each other....
