I caught both Sidney adults the other day ... can't remember if I posted these in 2010 or not ... so here they are again. :)

Last night's storm moved the wide angle camera. So far, the close up camera is OK.

Nice to see two eagles here, so there should be eggs and eaglets in the future. :loveshow:

Please keep Pa from Sidney in your prayers.

He appears to have fishing wire wrapped around his neck. Hoping something will be done here.

http://www.hancockwildlife.org/forum/vi ... 5&page=204

A dark line was spotted around his neck days ago. He looked O.K. but ground observers took shots and looked through binoculars and saw the line.
A few shots of both at nest yesterday

Oh dear... I hope there are good rehabbers in the area who can help. The question: how to catch an eagle? One can capture a bird which is grounded, but catching one in the air is tricky. You don't want to break their wings. But it is essential that the fishing line be removed. I've seen birds entangled in the line at the hospital. The good news is that most of these birds were successfully treated and released.

Video: Fishing Line around Dad Sidney’s Neck?

First to arrive, last to leave, Dad Sidney seems to be watching for intruders. The line around his neck has been confirmed by the extraordinary pictures taken by the ground crew.

I wonder how many other birds in the area have been entangled by fishing line? A good education program is needed to prevent future tragedies. Let's not let human error contribute to the difficulty of wildlife's already precarious existence. Once people know, it is hoped they will do the right thing: pick up their fishing line and take it home. And don't dispose of it in municipal dumps, which are filled with gulls.

I've been keeping up on the Hancock forum... David is putting plans in place to bait Pa so they can get a better/closer look at him. David is now thinking it may be a 'battle wound' and not fishing line. There was another eagle spotted in the area and Pa had an altercation with it.

The good thing is there are plenty of on-site ground observers and they are taking things step by step, day by day. Pa doesn't seem to be having any trouble flying/eating/nestorating ... so that's good!!

I missed seeing him on the nest today ... but I did get a pic of Ma.

Gee, normally I would not be thrilled with a neck wound, but in this case, I sure hope it is -- and not fishing line! Thanks Patti and beans for sharing the news.

Sorry , I have not posted updates. I have been keeping tabs on the nest. adn with my slow computer is is not easy.

My good friend Elle and her husband Ian and Kay are the ground crew observers.

Kay has posted several pictures of Pa on the site and Daved (not hancock) went out and took pcitures also

Yesterday dad and mom were at the nest quite a bit restoring. the day before Pa had to chase off an intruder.
At this time it is not confirmed jsut what his neck injury is. It does appear to go righto around the left side also and I think (IMHO) that the line is to clean to be a wound from a fight. It does appear to be from some sort of line which is either still there or maybe he removed it.
everyone is being very guarded with their remarks becasue it is not sure at this point just what it is.

Pa seems to be able to move head freely and did eat ravenously when Elle was there.

Click on the site and forum Kays picutres and keep watching becasue Daved later now show more of the wound.

http://www.hancockwildlife.org/forum/vi ... 5&page=215

Elle and Ian are going today to try and set up a feeding station so that Pa can try and catch Pa in a bow net.

I will give you the link to where the picutres are posted and then post a few of mine form yesterday
