OMG, the original female has returned and beat poor little Froona up? Where the heck has she been anyway making Froona think the nest was available? I pray that she is ok and returns to the other nest. But in those pictures of Port Washington, the first one looks more juvie than the second one. :-?

Maybe one is the male & the other is a female... :-?

Actually, I believe I did say some time ago that this nest isn't necessarily Froona's yet. After the resident female at Zurich returned from being away for several weeks, that told me that falcons don't necessarily go away for a long period during migration. I just hope Froona is OK, & that she will hopefully go back to Port Washington so we can see that she's OK.

My feelings about these 2 are the same as for Ranger & Boomer. This female was such a good mother last year, & it is her nest, but its disappointing that we won't be able to watch Froona enter motherhood here.

it's the same male of the last year:

Great captures this morning, Pess and SGB. Good to know it is Hoffman.

Too bad we won't be able to follow IndyFroona now. But apparently the resident female is a "strong woman" and is not ready to give in to a "teenager"
I hope IndyFroona is not injured (maybe just her pride? ) and will find a nice nesting site of her own.

Let's hope Froona is at Port Washington...there was a falcono that cam at 7 am...but not enough of a falcon to see if it could have been froona...Fingers crossed she'll nest there (even tho' we'll only see a glimpse every hour)...and I hope you're right, DEF...that only her Pride is injured...

Schöne Fotos Ferenz

I am a bit surprised that the UWM-Biosci webpage is not updated for almost 20 days while things are happening ... :valscrachhead:

John Castrale of the Indiana DNR contacted Greg about last week's goings on at BioSci and here is Greg's reply:

Hi John,

Don't know for sure who was involved but it appears that an unbanded adult female is back on site. We had an unbanded female nest here in 2009 and 2010. Falcons returned to several sites last week so this may be her again.

With the crummy weather we've had over the weekend, activity at the nest box as slowed down. Once it picks up we can see again who visits the nest box and whether or not Indy Froona has been driven off.

All the best,

Greg
