Great video Mick, and thanks for that info also obxbarb. I have only seen youtube videos of eagles fighting, and it was always in the air above the nest, and nasty. Have never seen bold enough to land in the nest like this, in the short time I have been watching eagles. Maybe it happens all the time, I dont know. It is just freaking me out though. So afraid of a mis-step with the eaglet and egg there, yikes! Why cant this female bully just get moving on?!! Thx again for all your posts folks. :loveheart2:

Thanks everyone...I don't think I'm going to be able to watch this cam...so thanks to all of you for keeping the rest of us up to date...I've also been reading what they are saying on the WOW forum as well...I'm gonna remain optimistic, but I think we need to be prepared.

I'm getting bleary eyed and can't think straight and I'm hopping from one forum to the next.

Mick ... Dana's report came from the blog .... a lot of the people there are locals who know the nest well. Dana is wvgal_dana. She's been around the forums for quite a few years.

This is the blog you can trust .... http://www.eaglecam.blogspot.com/

This was a second report posted ....

OKAY I REPEAT, DANA JUST SAW LIBERTY-he was trying to come into the nest, and the intruder female went after him!

Yes, Dana is in a spot where she can see the nest! And she just saw Lib try to fly towards the nest from a far away tree and the intruder eagle would not let him come near the nest, she chased him away back towards the buildings, back towards the river. They are both still out of sight.

One more post ... (I can't watch anymore either SGB ... breaks my heart).

LeeLee ... most times a male will not attempt to attack a female eagle. The females are too big - and this one is big, that's for sure. If there was no chick and egg on the nest ... I'm sure Belle would have escorted this girl outa here 2 days ago. She's torn ... she has to protect her chick. :(

Thanks for bringing that info over here PattiO...I'm so glad that Lib has been spotted...does anyone have any idea how long an intruder will hold on? I'm ready to drive up there myself and stand guard...I wish Belle could lure this intruder away and Lib come in with food...this baby's not gonna be able to hang on much longer...

I know .... I want to go down there and chase it away!! Some are speculating on it being one of their offspring, returning to it's natal area to breed. Possible I guess but I'm sure there's lots of nests in that area.

As soon as I read that Dana saw Lib that is the first thing that came to mind let Belle leave have intruder follow and Liberty come in but then I thought that the intruder might go after him and hurt the chick

That happened to me yesterday, Carly...I still think its going to take a miracle for this to turn out ok...I read somewhere that a newly hatched chick is usually ok without a feed for 24-36 hours after hatch...so, if that is true, we're into critical feed time now...

This may sound terrible but I wish they would turn the cam off for this year...
I `can believe` that all will turn ok...

I just checked the Shep. blog and the cam, and there is no new news. Belle is sitting peacefully on the nest and Paddy O'Joy was seen moving around this morning.

I would think the darn thing would be hungry itself by now!! chick is alone again right now but it sure looks to be moving around OK to me.

PS - carly, the cam pauses after 20 minutes or so of viewing ... depending on how many people are watching. They posted a note right under the cam. Just hit the play button again.

They are thinking mind you thinking at the blog that maybe Belle is bringing bugs or something in maybe a frog it looked like she was feeding Joy something but her back was at the camera, and it is the ones that watch faithfully so I tend to listen to them

kitten, I saw that too. I saw it last night and thought, what the heck is she doing? From the back it looked like she was feeding. I did NOT mention it because it would be extreme speculation on my part.

Have been watching closely on full screen, and Belle may be giving the eaglet regurgitated water? Belle appears to be giiving the eaglet a drink, and then shakes her beak like she is shaking the excess of her. I noticed Belle "mouthing" her beak like the heron mothers do, kind of gagging, just before she started this, so Im thinking she can regurgitate water because I dont know where she can store it otherwise? do they store water in the crop? just something i was wondering.

Oh how well I understand that, but like you I thought it looked that way yesterday I read what the experts (my opinion) there say and just report.
