Susan, I don't think the eaglet is strong enough to eat. I hope I am wrong.

Yes, kitten. I saw the back legs twitch repeatedly just after my last post and the eaglet has not moved since.

I have a recording of the fish and Belle eating it but I haven't loaded it and don't know why I should. It seems too sad to post.

My sense is that Intruder is still up in the tree, and Belle is trying to figure out the next Chess move. There's a lot at stake here. No doubt Belle's instinct is at work.

I've turned the cam off too, KF...I think the cold plus the lack of food has been too overwhelming..

You are probably right, Susan...but, that's not helping out the little one right now...Plus, we've learned that parents respond to those bobbing beaks...there is no bobbing beak right now..

Maybe Belle knew the last time she flew off. I don't know, but she's a Super Mom as LeeLee reminded us this morning with the pics from last year. Belle's not giving up though; she's not handing over her nest.

I just went to confirm last movement, because I happened by chance to record it. It was at 1:32 nest time, so an hour and a half ago.

I wish I had some consoling words...but I don't...This pair has endured so much..and I'm sure there are other nests out there where such conflict and stress is a daily occurrence. The blizzard last year...and what lousy timing for an intruder to come on the scene..right after a hatch. They've probably lost little Paddy and the other egg. What an investment in time, loyalty and dedication...But, Belle is tough. She will do whatever it takes to hold onto her home. This just really, really stinks... :sosad2

If I had to make an educated guess, I would say that the cold played a role in all of this...
